Whee! I get the key to my new apartment this evening!  I am going to get my dolly out of the storage room and start moving over some boxes. I can't stand coming home to the clutter of boxes in my existing apartment.

Tomorrow I go out and order a new bed to be delivered to the new place on Saturday and the movers come to move me Saturday afternoon. No way am I taking my existing bed given the problems with the bed bugs :(  I'm even considering scrapping the love seat.  Granted it's 1996 circa, but it's still fashionable (well, it probably went out of fashion and back into fashion during that time,
)   But it's still in excellent condition. Not a thread out of place.

The bad news is that even when I get moved, I can't unpack anything for 2 weeks because they have to come and fumigate the new place.

The other good news is that I ordered a fabric steamer and it arrived today. My neighbout took the parcel for me.  I plan on using it on my bedroom furniture (dresser, and especially the end tables that sat against the common wall).  I've read that steam heat of 120 degress kills not only the bugs, but the eggs as well.   I'll steam clean on Friday before my furniture gets moved.  Am I being paranoid?  Yep!

I had considered just staying in the 2 bedroom I'm moving into rather than staying 3/4 packed and living out of boxes for 6 months and moving back down the hallway.  However, the management is now giving me grief over my cats.  She claims that she didn't know about my cats. Which is complete BS.  When I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and admitted for 2 weeks in 2004, the caretaker was looking after my cats and was concerned because she hadn't heard anything about what happened to me.  So she called the apartment manager who tracked me down at one of the local hospitals and gave me an update on my cats as well as collecting an update from me to pass along to my building caretaker.  But suddenly she claims she knew nothing about my cats.  She outright told me that if I want to keep my cats I'll have to relocate out of the building, and if I want to stay I'll have to get rid of my cats. I told her that I won't get rid of my cats.  So she told me that when I move into the new place, I'll have to start looking for another place out of the building rather than move into a riverside 2 bedroom in the building.

So looks like she made my decision for me. I was wishy-washy about staying in this building because it's convenient to work and shops and downtown, or moving across town to a 2 bedroom that is a bit more expensive ($1150 per month vs the $975 I'll be paying here for a 2 bedroom) but with a balcony, central air and in suite laundry and including all utilities even hydro, which I pay where I am now and can be $100 per month in the summer.

I'm feeling so out of sorts because I tend to settle and absolutely hate moving. I've been where I am since 1996.

If I knew where my camera was I'd take some pictures, but I have absolutely no idea what box I hastily threw it into.

That's so exciting! Well, the moving into a new place part (not the bedbug part!).  I don't blame you for steaming everything---better safe than sorry. I hope the move goes well, and you're able to get everything in place soon. I still have fond memories of when we moved into our house.  I miss the Zen-like lack of clutter...it all looked SO big then!
