Hi everyone,

I can't figure out whats wrong with my cat! Any ideas would be soooooo great!

I got Mr. Meowgi when he was a kitten and he was kind of a mess. (ear mites, roundworm) He vomited quite frequently for weeks and after trying a number of different foods, he finally stopped vomiting. We settled on Before Grain chicken and rice dry cat food (its grain free, i think he most likely is allergic to a grain?)

Fast forward 18 months. Until now he has been very health aside from generally just being a pukey cat (hairballs and the occasional vomit just for fun :) About a month ago I went away for a couple days and a friend fed him while I was gone. When I got home he started vomiting after eating. i figured it was just stress but when it didnt stop I finally switched him to plain boiled chicken. After a fews of chicken he stopped vomiting (YAY!) so i replaced the bag of cat food with a new one in case it was spoiled and as soon as I tried to switch him back over to the food he started vomiting again (BOO!) He went back on chicken and I took him to the vet. (He also started to have very small bald spots on his face that look like ringworm).

So the vet said he looks healthy (not dehydrated, stomach not swollen) and he acts just fine (normal energy) So she didnt know what was wrong with him. She said to try a different food. Well, today I bought a new grain free food that has nothing weird in it and no fish. I gave him 5 pieces of kibble and he promptly vomited. What the heck man?! I should mention hes my only animal and strictly indoor but my friends dog did come over briefly one day a couple months ago, I think he was healthy though. He does gorge his food but this most recent time he only had a small taste of the new food so that doesnt seem to be the problem.

Well, Im at a loss. Any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated!!!!

Try canned food instead of dry.

BTW, rice is a grain.

Have you tried given that chicken raw? will he eat it?
If so, you might want to try a raw diet?
Vomiting like that can be s sign of IBD..... it is not normal..... has your vet spoken to you about it?
In any event, it is a good sign that he does well on chicken - he might do well on raw - most cats do..... I am currently transitioning all mine to it, and it has been wonderful, particularly for Bugsy, my IBD kitty, who was fighting a never ending, over year long diarrhea.....
There is a lot of information on this thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/240809/raw-feeding-resource-thread

By the way, what a cutie pie!
