Hi everyone!
I've recently switched my kitty onto premium food. He is getting majority wet food which I've managed to find a really good brand in Australia (Holistic Select). I am now torn between two brands of dry food.

Holistic Select Chicken Meal:

Chicken Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Natural Mixed Tocopherols), Oatmeal, Anchovy & Sardine Meal, Flaxseed, Dried Egg Product, Natural Chicken Flavor, Menhaden Fish Oil, Tomato Pomace, Carrots, Sun–Cured Alfalfa, Peas, Dried Beet Pulp, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Organic Quinoa, Inulin, Apples, Blueberries, Taurine, Cranberries, Dried Kelp, DL–Methionine, Vitamins [Beta–Carotene, Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Niacin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, d–Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin D–3 Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B–12 Supplement, Folic Acid], Minerals [Polysaccharide Complexes of Zinc, Iron, Manganese, and Copper, Cobalt Carbonate, Potassium Iodate, Sodium Selenite], Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Enterococcus faecium, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Aspergillus oryzae and Aspergillus niger Fermentation Products, Mixed Tocopherols (a natural preservative).

Nutro Premium Australia Natural Choice:

Dried Chicken, Corn Protein, Ground Rice, Chicken Fat, Natural Flavours, Dried Beet Pulp, Iodised Salt, Sunflower Oil, Potassium Chloride, Dried Chicory Root, Choline Chloride, Flax Seed, DL-Methionine, Taurine, Vitamin C, Natural Antioxidants (including Mixed Tocopherols and Rosemary Extract), Vitamin E Supplement, Dried Cranberry Extract, Manganese Sulphate, Beta Carotene, Zinc Sulphate, Marigold Meal, Yucca Extract, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Fish Oil, Copper Sulphate, Ferrous Sulphate, Thiamine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B1), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Vitamin B6, Potassium Iodide, Folic Acid.

(With this one I read they took all the stuff out of corn that causes digestion trouble and just kept the protein)

We don't get EVO in the area of Australia that I live in unfortunately. Narrowing out all the other foods in my area (most contain a lot of corn and by-products) I've narrowed it down to these two choices.
I'm not sure about the other ingredients which are beneficial to kittens - in my research all I got was that grains were to be avoided, and by-products. I would like to find one as low in carbohydrates as possible because he is an indoor kitten.

Any help on which one to choose would be much appreciated!!

PS: I got a sample and he tends to love both :)

thanks for your reply! I've been leaning towards that.. the only reason keeping me back is the chicken meal VS dried chicken.

Thankyou!! :)

I think that "chicken meal" and "dried chicken" are the same thing, just different labeling requirements between the countries. Holistic Select is likely made in the U.S., while it looks like the Nutro is made specifically for Australia. "Corn protein" is called "corn gluten meal" over here, and while it's not a terrible ingredient, I do hate to see it as the second ingredient listed. I don't think veggie proteins are as easily assimilated as animal proteins for cats.

All things considered I think I'd go with the Holistic Select, too.

I agree with those who answered before me. I would choose the first one. Corn protein (or corn gluten) in 2nd ingredient is too much. :) hope it helps!
