Mounting between neutered males?

Hi everyone, wavey.gif

Is mounting between neutered male cats normal...? Boots started doing this to Kramer a few weeks ago (he's 6 months old, neutered at 4 months). He also started showing some signs around that time that could be construed as challenging the totem pole order, like biting me (gently) for no good reason.

I figured it was Boots coming into an age where he feels like he needs to assert his dominance, or try to, but now Kramer will randomly do it to Boots too. Kramer's been less tolerant of his wrestling antics lately, and they don't sleep snuggled up together anymore like they used to. frown.gif

Fortunately none of them have started spraying or anything, but is this something I need to worry about?

It is like you say, dominance things.  Normally you dont need to worry. But good you are observing.

Much fun if nothing else.

As you observe, he is perhaps trying to pull up his rank against you too, however gently.

The easiest is to show your Mastery at some non critical point.

Here at home we do chase our residents from the kitchen table.  That is almost the only one Forbidden for them to do. They sneak up sometimes anyway, even when we are watching.  But they also accept us schasing them from there...  :)  Clipping the nails is, willy-nilly, another situation, thinking about it.

Enought to show who is the Master...

In all other situations we are the obedient servants, and everyone is happy and  harmonious.   :)

So this way, cats are easier than dogs.  With a dog it is important who is the pack leader.
