Not sure if many people will remember me, I haven't been here in ages. I do tend to drop in and out for no particular reason.

So hello everyone!

I hope you and your kitties are doing well.

I'm doing great here. I got engaged a little over a year ago (not sure if I told you that at the time or if I was already gone). We also bought a little house in the country. Well, as small farm. We want to gradually turn it into a family business, and grow heirloom vegetables. For now, my fiancé works outside the home, and I'm at home, kind of bored for the moment. Not much to do on a farm in the winter, and I haven't had any luck finding a temporary job for the winter.

The cats adapted well to the move, eventually. Those poor babies get stressed out when there is change (Kinah especially) but now they love the house.

We added to our little critter family and got two dogs. They are both such sweethearts and good around the cats. Joshua is getting pretty fond of one of them, and is curious enough to hang around the other one (but he doesn't like that she keeps licking him). Kinah is not very keen on the dogs, but she got used to them. Still, she prefers to hang around the second floor of the house, where the dogs are not allowed.

We also have 6 chickens. In the Spring we'll get more. Eventually we'd like to have goats, maybe sheep, bees and ducks.

So our little family is slowly expanding... and not just in the critter department. We found out just over a week ago that we are expecting a baby for the end of September. I am so excited, but also so stressed. I am terrified that something will go wrong. Still a few weeks more before I meet with a midwife, so until then I just keep my fingers crossed and hope that the little one is doing well.

Oh your farm sounds exciting!  Congratulations on the baby!!  Pregnancy will sure make planting interesting for you this summer!  Especially at harvest.
I'm due with #2 right around planting time.  I'm not sure how it's going to work this year since I started gardening as my therapy.  This last summer I'd go out and weed and water while my DD napped and it was so relaxing!  Just changing my environment for a few minutes like that; focusing on something else, made me feel refreshed.  And my garden is tiny!

Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.  It's hard not to worry.  It feels like there is always something new to think/worry about sometimes.  But once its over it's all worth it and seems to have gone awful fast!  hehe

Thanks!

The farm is fun. But this year I think we will plant less than we had planned, especially with things that need to be picked every day. I will get some help too, but most of the work will be up to me.

Maybe you can get someone to help you with the planting this year? Or even plant your garden for you. Depends if you think you will be up to maintaining it when your little one gets here.

And congrats on the second baby! That is so exciting! Do you know yet if it's a boy or a girl?

And clearly, from your location, you are a fan of Douglas Adams.

My mother was a farm girl, and we visited her father's farm often growing up.  It gives a kid a better outlook on life to see cows being milked, chickens being fed (and killed for dinner), to follow behind the little Farmall Cub tractor walking barefoot on the bottom of a freshly turned furrow, picking asparagus, cherries, strawberries, etc.
