Hey there! I'm new to posting here, but I've been reading through a lot of posts in the past months (since adopting my new, and very first cat), and it has helped me learn a lot as a first-time cat-mama. Which is exactly why I would totally appreciate any of your help!

So!, I've got a favour to ask all you - would any of you mind sharing your opinions on a dry food for me? I only feed dry as a snack for in the middle of the night, and my little guy's primary meals consists of all premium wet foods (mostly Natural Balance, Chicken Soup, Holistic Select, and Performatrin Ultra), but I was recently in my local PetValu and saw a decently priced food called ClassyCats which is by a Canadian company called Nutram. Has anyone ever heard of this food, and would it be even an okay food to feed? I can't seem to find a whole lot of info out there about it, which kind of freaks me out...

Here are two links detailing its ingredients and nutritional info. I know it isn't the best food, but it does seem a lot better than most foods I have the option to buy since I'm living in a small town with hardly any good quality pet resources.

Any info or advice is welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to TCS and glad you found us !!!!:clap::clap: I have not heard of ClassyCat and just looked at the ingredients. I personally would not feed this food to my cats. It has "whole corn" and ingredient #2 and "corn gluten" as the #3 ingredient. I would try to find a dry food without corn for sure, and no soy or wheat. Actually, Chicken Soup (is one you are already feeding ) has a pretty good dry cat food and it is very reasonably priced too :). Hopefully other's will chime in here soon and welcome you and offer many great suggestions for you. Hope you enjoy your time on TCS :wavey:

Hello and Welcome! I have not heard of the cat food you mentioned. Have you tried Blue Buffalo Wilderness dry food? It has no grains, corn, wheat, or soy. I mostly feed wet food but this is what I leave out for Gracie when I'm not going to be home all day.

Welcome to TCS! :wavey:

You'll find opinions will vary a lot on what's a good dry food. The most important thing is your kitty does well on it. :)

I'm feeding multiple cats of varying ages/needs, so I mix a few dry foods together to 'cover all my bases' so to speak. The include Natural Balance, Fromm, and Nutro.

Hi there and Welcome to TCS
Always nice to see new faces around these parts.  I've never heard of the brand of cat food you posted about.  From the looks of it I would find other options myself if possible.  You say you live in a small town and selection is not great.  I feed Nutro products and always have.  I've had good luck with the brand and also work for the company now. I don't mess with my cats kibble.  I keep them on the same Nutro product I always have but for wet I will mix in other brands just to give them a taste of something other than Nutro now and then.  Do you have any grain mills around your area?  You may be able to find alternative brands in your area at places like that or at feed stores for livestock.  Also some hardware stores will carry small selections of different dog and cat foods.  You can also try online ordering.  I know Amazon.com offers free shipping on some orders so you might check them out as well.  Best of luck and nice to meet you

I live in Israel and have cared for more than 100 cats here. Usually about a 30 cats at a time. My vet calls me a traveling cat shelter. I feed Classy Cat cat food to most of my cats, the protein quality and fat content is better than most dry foods plus it decreases risk of urinary tract stones in my neutered cats. Approximately 10% of cats require a higher quality food because of the high tendency to develop autoimmune gingivitis (gum disease). Classy cat is better than the grocery store brands like Purina and 9 Lives. I provide Royal Canin "Fit 32" for my cats who have sensitive systems. I can't afford Royal Canin "Sensitive" which is better still.

Anyway I have 5 years of experience with Classy cat, it is a good quality food. My cats are allowed outside so I don't expect them to live to be 25 yrs old. I also give them plenty of fresh cooked chicken and fish and of course the most important: fresh water.   I also respect the ingredient quality from Canadian manufacturers. When the big melanine pet food recall happened I was feeding ACANA (I can't afford it now). This food is EXCELLENT. I had no worries about Chinese ingredients.  I hope my note is helpful to you.

Welcome to TCS! :D I recommend Wellness Core, its what my kitten has if she needs to have dry. Its grain and gluten free. I personally have no experience with the Classy cats food, but I too wouldn't feed it to my kitty due to all the corn ingredients.
