I hope that the moderators are happy for me to post this question here.

I have been truly devastated over the loss of my friend Marmite & I am still suffering & miss her deeply. I am very grateful for the help from this forum & from my wife for helping me through the first few awful, desperate days.

I have chosen to keep Marmite's ashes at home & have so far been given a temporary wooden cask to by the cremation company. I have searched the Internet & could not find anything I liked until I found a website by Scottish cabinet maker, Duke Christie. On the website, I saw a beautiful box & Duke has agreed to make a special version of the box for me. It will contain an inscribed plaque.

I would like to ask for comments on the inscription.

Marmite

1998 – 2011

We will always love you, Little Angel

We never called Marmite our "Little Angel", but we call her our Little Angel now, because we believe that she is in Heaven. I think that therefore, "Little Angel" should be capitalised? I understand that we could use the word "shall" instead of "will". I have used "will" as it is an absolute promise.

The cask he is making will look much like the above, except it will be square & with a round inlaid flower.

The inscription is from your heart. If it gives you comfort, it is the right inscription. May your Little Angel rest in peace.

I would certainly capitalize it -- it's part of her name now, essentially, and to me it's only right that it's capitalized.

Once again, my thoughts are with you and :rbheart: Marmite :rbheart: . I followed your original thread about her illness and was so sorry to hear she'd finally passed. You and your family did everything you could.

That's a beautiful box and a lovely inscription. Since "Little Angel" is a nickname, capitalizing it is correct.

My condolences.

The urn is beautiful!

So far as the inscription goes, I really like it.  However, for me, I would make one change.

I would put:

Marmite

1998 – 2011

Little Angel, we will always love you.

To me when I see the name at the end, it looks more like a salutation than a statement.

Thank you.

I am still very upset over her loss. Marmite was a big part of my life.

I am so very sorry to hear about the sad passing of Marmite, I lost my beloved Crumble on New Years Eve last year, I now have another kitten called Coco who is very poorly (I have posted this on a separate thread). Your tribute is lovely and heartfelt, I have set up web sites for both my precious cats, I have found them a source of great comfort, I just wanted to say that, spelling and grammar, although they are important in some circumstances such as applying for a job etc, when you have suffered a devastating loss, words from the heart are all that is needed, no one is going to judge you on your grammatical skills, having said that, your inscription is both moving and inspiring, I like to think of my cats running free with the Angels, free from pain and, I take great comfort from the words said on Watership Down "My heart has joined the thousands, for my friend stopped running today,,," and the lyrics from Bright Eyes by Mike Batt.

Kindest regards and sincere condolences from one pet lover to another at this sad time......Cheryl

Thank you Cheryl & Trout's mom

I thought of a website, but I am writing a little book about Marmite's life written from her point of view. I find writing it some comfort during my many sleepless nights.

Do you have the website addresses, Cheryl?

A beautiful box for your Little Angel. And it shoud be 'will' not 'shall' - you are correct ion what you have written. I am so sorry for your loss.
