Please send adoption vibes for "Rebel"...

I wanted to make a donation to our local kill shelter on behalf of a pet, so I went today and found the one I wanted to "sponsor."  The problem is, that is only half the battle with this place.  Once the neuter fee is paid, the cat becomes a "$35 adoptee."  Someone still has to see him, fall in love, and take him home (and pay the remaining $35 to do so).  They won't take more than the neuter/spay fee (which is okay since people who really want to love an animal are usually willing to pay the money...especially a fee that small).

The kitty's name is Rebel.  He looks just like my Blue Kitty (bluepoint siamese) and is so very loving.  I put my fingers in his cage and he came to me and spent 10 minutes rubbing against the cage and headbutting my hand...purring all the time. Apparently, when he first came there, he was stressed out and tried to "attack" a worker.  I truly think that some people just do not know cats!  Maybe he did "attack" her...but what was she doing?  Was she picking him up when he didn't know her yet?  Did she have her face close to his cage?  Were other cats out roaming around the room making him nervous?  Did she hit a tender spot?  Who knows?!  I am not willing to give up on a cat for something like that...espeically with the docile behavior he was displaying with me.  However, some people hear that and go running for the door!  A woman in the room was very interested in him while I was there.  I even got another kitty from an adjacent cage to see what Rebel would do.  He honestly didn't have much reaction at all.  He "patted" the other cat...but never made a growl or hiss at all.  It was almost like he just wanted to touch it.  The other cat could have totally cared less (kitten age) and didn't even make a sound, move, etc.

So now...Rebel needs adoption vibes!  I am pretty sure that bringing him into my home is not an option...and they told me that even with me paying the neuter fee, he could be PTS if not adopted.  They said the fee would then just be moved to another animal.  :(  So here we are.  Vibes are greatly appreciated!

I will definitely send prayers/adoption vibes to Rebel.  Many cats are put down because they are considered shy or antisocial.  Having had cats all my life (I'm 53) and rescued them for 12 years, I know how stressful a shelter can be.  Therefore, the true personalities of animals don't come out.

Both of my cats were abandoned by their owners.  Over the years, I took in the ones no one wanted -- old cats, special needs, etc.

We (my cats and I) will make sure Rebel finds a wonderful forever home.

My percy baby was a rescue from this shelter.  I went to the shelter last summer not realizing it was a high kill shelter.  I just fell in love with this sweet, laid back momma kitty and her little orange baby, but I knew my husband didn't want anymore cats indoors.  Well, as we were leaving, the desk workers were talking about "the list" for the night.  Percy (6 week old BABY) was on the list "because he wasn't friendly enough."  !!!!!!!  I immediately took both momma and baby and they are two of the absolute BEST cats ever.  Percy is also one of the most LOVING cats I have ever met.  He headbutts us and rubs all over us.  He comes to the back door when he wants to come in and get loves and he comes anytime I call him from wherever he is!

I called the shelter today and ....REBEL WAS ADOPTED!!!!!!  :)  I hope it was by the nice lady who was talking to me about him before I left.  She seemed like she would really give it a chance.  :)

Awww, that's great, and Momma Kitty and Percy are beautiful. I love her tail - it's almost like a fox's.

Rebel has my love and *PRAYERS* for a long, happy, healthy, protected, comforted and LOVED life in a forever home, absolutely.  One does wish it could be YOUR home, but I hope the new home he has will be his forever home.  vibes.gifsilver.gif
