How fast are cats?

Just wondering if cats can be so fast that they can change location in the blink of an eye. My Ni was fast asleep (belly and paws up) in the living room which is located in the front of the house. You need to pass the kitchen, dining room, up some stairs to reach my bedroom. I saw him sleeping when I was by my bedroom door which I keep locked.  I swear the minute I put the key in the keyhole, Ni was beside me.

Perhaps they can stop time or it's some kind of feline magic ! laughing02.gif

It's been said that they can reach speeds of up to 40mph.  But, that is in a big run... So, going around the house with the kitty crazies, I would say probably about 10-15mph?
