Okay, here's the back story. I got a daughter of some of my parents' friends into the "Warriors" books by Erin Hunter. In all honestly I have never met the girl but after hearing from my parents how the girl wanted to find a new series of books to read, I told my parents to suggest "Warriors" to her or her parents.  Well, I found out from my parents that since then, she has fallen in love with the series and after hearing that I draw, she has asked if I could draw some illustrations of her favorite scenes from the books for her upcoming birthday.

I'm more than happy to do this but if you don't know, the books are about serveral clans of feral cats, living in a forest and my problem is that I'm a little rusty on drawing cats.  I'm satisfactory with drawing cats in simple, straight forward angles and poses but as far has drawing them in more complicated positions and from more dynamic angles, I need help.

This is where you come in! What I need everyone to do is to post pictures of your cats for references.  Though I'm sure if I wanted to spend more time searching for pictures I could find what I need, but I can only spare a couple of days practicing drawing before I need to start planning the layout of the illustrations.

Here's some ideas of what I'm needing references on the most:
  • cats in action (pouncing, running, jumping, etc.)
  • cats interacting with cats
  • grooming
  • hissing
  • fizzed up (territorial displays)
  • playing
  • stalking
  • cats eating and or drinking
  • hunting
  • cats in nature/backyard surroundings
  • Cats of all sizes!  Fat cats, thin cats, short cats, long cats
  • cats of all ages!
  • cats of all breeds and colors!
  • Expressive cats!  (show me their expressive faces)
Keep in mind, I also need pictures shot from interesting veiws, like from above, behind and the the side, from below, well just about everywhere.

I would really appreciate the help. I have found a few decent reference pictures on google but I've also seen too many graphic pictures....(I don't want to see the same infected eye picture over and over again, soo gross)

I'm looking of decent quality pictures, they don't have to be perfect quality but it would be great if they were full body shots (except if a photo of a cat's expressive face) and if they were clear enough where I can distinguish legs and such.

here's an example of what would be a perfect image

Notice the quality isn't perfect, there's some blurring and some really dark spots (on the dark cat) that keeps from fully seeing the face BUT nothing that would keep me from connecting the dots so to speak.

I would really appreciate any help, and I'm sure the 11 year old girl will appreciate it too!

You come to a cat site and ask us to post pictures of our babies? You might get more than you bargained for. :lol3:

Some of these are my kitties and some are from the shelter where I volunteer.

I'm sure I can come up with more when I'm wider awake. ;)

As Kermit the Frog would say, "YAAAAAAAAAAY!"

Goldycat, I love the pictures to posted!

I also just wanted to state that I'll be more than happy to put up some of my practice sketches and the finished illustrations (if I remember to scan them before give them to the girl lol)
