My sister's cat, Yoda, has always been on the dramatic side.  He's not the most intelligent cat, the best way to describe his personality is to tell you to picture Mongo from the movie Blazing Saddles as a cat.  He's strong, dumb but just wants to be loved.

He's very attached to people and heavily relies on them. He's had some medical issues that only encouraged his neediness.  When he was a young cat, he broke both hips with in 2 weeks from each other. He tore out on the carpet and snapped the balls of his hip joints right off. His hips not are floating joints, like the shoulders of all cats. During this time, his reliance on people was amplified and after he was healed it never changed.   Since his hips, everything is a big deal for Yoda. If he has a hair ball, he literally screams. If you're carrying him past the front door, he freaks out thinking you're taking him out the front door (fears we're taking him to the since that's the only time he's carried out through the front door.) He hates jumping up on things, he'll stare at you until you pick him up all though he's 100% capable of jumping.

Well after having Yoda for about 9 years, the family thought that we knew the limits to his dramatic personality but starting in July, it jumped several levels.

In July, Yoda gave my parents a huge scare. My dad is one of those guys that, though he deeply deeply cares for his animals, it usually takes a pretty serious situation for him to even consider taking a cat to the vet for anything other than routine vaccinations.  Well one day, my dad was out in the back yard with Yoda, the other 2 cats and Diesel their dog. Yoda running across the yard when all of a sudden he let out a scream then went rigid, falling over in the yard. His pupils were dilated, his mouth was open, breathing short and heavy. My dad thought he was dying because he wasn't moving, and his eyes were fixed. My parents were torn because they wanted to take him to the vet but then again they were afraid that moving him would only make him worse. My dad sat in the yard with him for an hour gently petting him. Suddenly, Yoda sat up then a few minutes later and starting to walk around with a slight limp. With in 3 hours he was inside, jumping onto window sills and pretty much acting as if nothing happened. My parents decided that he must have pulled something while he was running around in the yard and being dramatic, Yoda acted like he was dying. lol

Well about 2 months ago a similar incident occurred at my parents' new house. Yoda was in the back yard when all of a sudden he screamed, got rigid and collapsed on the ground. This time it was a little strange because he wasn't being crazy like the previous time. The strangest thing is that when he was laying on the ground, he pooped.  The stool was normal looking and a few minutes after pooing, Yoda got to his feet and acted like nothing happened.   My sister was actually home this time and since something like this has happened two times, that she'd take Yoda into the vet that day.

After having a thorough examination from the vet, including x-rays, the Vet announced what was ailing Yoda

......Gas.....

All that drama, here we thought that he was dying or was suffering a heart attack or stroke or something and it turned out to be Intestinal cramps LOL.  Cramps haha.  Look I know even for people, gas cramps can be painful but seriously. Collapsing on the ground, screaming? A little over dramatic, don't ya think?

Anyways thought it was a fun story to share lol

Poor Yoda! I'm glad he is ok and that it's nothing serious!  Maybe they should look into the type of food he's eating. It is unusual for a cat to have stomach cramping. So he might be reacting to the food they are feeding him.

And don't get fooled into believing that you can't fall over and scream in pain from gas. It can be very painful. I've seen people brought into hospital by ambulance because of it.  I know for me that when I have dairy products some of the gas pains have me bent over at the waist with my face twisted in agony.
