RANT & RAVE PERLA, :princess: :worship: PERLA!!!!!!!!!! You are breaking, totally breaking my heart :heart3: :bawling: She actually had me ALMOST crying this morning, although I didn't, but I was close. :nothappy: But really felt crazy over her. I just need to vent, and I am not mad at my little darling, no :nono: not at all. I am just worried and she really has me at her beck and call. I know she want's to eat, but she is just getting more and more finicky as time goes on. :sobbing:

Here is the ONLY, and I mean ONLY way I can get her to eat raw and I can't have this go on any longer. She will only eat raw meat with either BFF tuna or Fussy Cat tuna, mixed together AND AND AND sprinkled with a little Fortiflora or FD Salmon. She won't eat with anything else, not even Weruva Paw Lickin chicken, Weruva Mack/Jack OR Fancy Feast. :thud: I am sick, sick, sick, and tired of opening up can after can to get her to eat the raw. AND :stomp: NOW as of yesterday and today, she was refusing to even eat canned. I opened up Core chicken, EVO turkey and Wellness Chicken :thud: NOPE NOPE NOPE.... :bawling: So I said forget it. THEN SHE COMES ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER AN HOUR LATER BEGGING FOR FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I think  OH GOOD. I need to get that L-Lysine into her. So I offered her some FD S&C Lamb mixed with some of the Wellness chicken (which she loves)..... NOPE NOPE NOPE, BLUFF BLUFF BLUFF!!!!!! " What else you got, momma???? I want that SHI&TY, yummy feral food you bring out to those cat's that live outside. YEP, MOMMA, THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!!!!!" And she went to town on the Friskies Turkey and Giblets :sobbing: :bawling: but she ate her Lysine. Honestly, she is my ONLY PIMA now :stomp:, my cross to bear :argh:, and I honestly don't think that is ever going to change :sigh:

I cannot keep offering Perla TUNA everyday to get her to eat. PERIOD. I have to get her off of FISH!!!! Somehow, someway. How in the world did this happen?????!!!!!!!! :nervous: HOW did we get to this point??? I have NEVER before offered her Friskies. I am at my wits end..... All I wanted was for her to eat a raw diet. And now, all she will eat is FISH OR TUNA OR CRAPPY CANNED FOOD!!!! :bawling: And, I can't withhold food because she is recovering from a bout of the Herpes Virus again. So she has to eat and if Friskies is the flavor of the day, then that is what she will get. I am so sad about this and so frustrated. Thanks for listening... I needed this rant :lol3:

Oh hun....... I know how you feel..... I have one of those here

Here is a thought - Why don't you get some of these cans and make ice cubes out of them - Say a whole tray of Mack/Jack, a whole Tray of Weruva, a whole tray of fancy Feast..... and so on. Freeze them just until they are solid enough to pop out of the trays, and put it on marked ziplock freezer safe bags.
This way, on every meal you can just get one cube, and won't spoil a can if she doesn't eat that..... You can even give her a lick of the canned after you defrost it to make sure it is her "daily menu preferred" :lol3: before mixing it to the raw.....
You defrost it just like you do with the raw - in a ziplock bag under hot water.....
Just an idea to save you $$$ and the grief.....
While my canned eating kitties had a major problem with fridge food, they never had a problem with frozen canned......

Oh Lauren! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

That's a really interesting idea Carolina has! Definitely worth a try. Won't save you the frustration of getting Perla to eat, but it will save some money!

As to Perla.... maybe for at least a few days, just stop offering her raw. Give her the friskies. Then slowly mix in better quality canned? :dk:

It's interesting... it seems there's often "THAT ONE CAT." If I remember correctly, Dr. Pierson had one. I know my vet has one. As to Spooky... I just offer her raw in the morning, cut up 0.5oz of whatever I'm feeding the other kids, and put her 1.5oz of canned over it - because she rarely eats any of the raw under it, and walks away from some of the canned. I feel VERY thankful that she's eating the canned without fuss though (except B.G.!!!! :lol3: ). Right now, she gets Wellness-something or Instinct. That's what she'll eat. :dk: And I'm just not bothering with anything else for now. She used to eat anything I put in front of her. Now she doesn't. (But at least I've figured out what she WILL eat!). :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: for you, sweetie! I hope you can figure out some non-fishy foods for your baby :princess: !!! :hugs:

Well, I can certain sympathize, since I've got the same exact thing going on over here.  Only the DIVA cat changes from day to day.  One day it will be Callie, the next it will be Stinkpot.  And I am really wondering just how bad it is to serve up fish every day, as long is it's Tiki or BFF or Weruva, etc.  'Cause, over here, that's also what they eat 95% of the time, and it's got me pretty worried too.  (but I did just order a case of Tiki chicken with egg, but I have no idea if anyone will even eat it

...I simply felt like I HAD to try something other than fish)  Yesterday I bought a can of Evo, which I tried out on the gang last night, and it was a complete bust.  Think it was chicken and turkey, but it was pate, so hope that was their "complaint"

Hey, with Perla, I guess it could have been worse.  She might have demanded
kibble
.  Now see?  THAT would have been a tragedy

BTW, mine never really seemed interested in Paw Lickin Chicken, as I hoped they would be.  So sad.  BUT, they all loved Weruva Mediterrarean Feast, and now apparently they are sick of it, because last night and this morning NO ONE showed up for breakfast, not even Darko!  I still have one plastic tub of Meow Mix Selects (now if you think Friskies is bad, take a look at that stuff!) leftover from Sven's go-to supply when "all else fails" that I may have to resort to.  AND, I'll probably buy more of that just "in case".  You gotta have a back-up, ya know?  Life was definitely simpler when they were all eating free fed kibble
, BUT, keep telling yourself this is for their own good!

I like Carolina's idea.  May have to implement it myself if my picky's don't change their way's soon.  Gotta get that freezer we've been talking about.  Who knew we might need it for frozen canned food

BTW, hope you feel better after your rant

MY GOODNESS, Carolina, you certainly come up with THE best ideas!!!!!! That is brilliant and I will try that for sure. My fridge looks like it went to war with canned cat foods. They are all over the place in there. And I know you know how I feel :lol3: These :princess: are going to drive us to the Nut House - the Raw Section... :nothappy:

AWWW Thanks, Laurie, Perla used to be just like your Spooky, She would eat everything and anything. Thanks for telling me about Spooky. It seems that there is always THAT ONE who just has to make this practically impossible. Funny thing, I thought that in the beginning of this raw journey that Perla would be the one to take to it naturally. What a surprise, three months into it, and she is still not on raw. I am going to stop all raw with her completely right now. I need to get her eating well again and not fussing and stressing. Not good for her either. So basically starting over with her. I will keep trying other canned foods without fish. If Friskie will get her back on track, then Friskies it is. :lol3:

Thank you, Sally, I DO feel much better. It helps SO much to be able to talk with you guys about THAT ONE CAT (or in your case, they take turns :D) who just has to make us work so hard each and every meal. Perla used to LOVE LOVE Weruva Paw Lickin chicken!!! I have no clue as to why she hates it now. :dk: Drives me nuts. OMG :flail: MEOW MIX SELECTS  I will bet you a million dollars that Perla would LOVE that!!!! Yeah, I think Friskies might be a step up from that one. But who cares, right !!! If it works, and it is wet food, then go for it. YEAH - life was SO SO SO much easier just doling out the dry. It is hell trying to get them to eat healthy. OMG OMG I know, WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT!!!!! A freezer for canned food!!! :thud:

OH thank you all so much, my friends :hugs:. You just made my day brighter :sun: :sun: :sun:

WELL- the NM Beef was a HUGE HUGE FLOP!!!! Except for Walden and Wendall, of course. Even Wilbur won't touch it. Henry loves it, of course :lol3: So won't be ordering anymore NM beef. Will just keep the NM Chicken in rotation for Pipsqueak. Speaking of Pip, he absolutely LOVES LOVES Rad Cat Turkey or chicken but will not touch the Lamb :flail: AND the other three P's will not touch the Turkey or the chicken but love the Lamb. I have come to realize that what Pipsqueak likes the others will hate and visa versa. Perfect example. I went out to buy some Soulistic canned foods for Perla. Offered Pip a little taste at dinner. The chicken/tilapia. He refused it!!!:clap::clap::clap: YES, I was happy he refused, because I knew the other three P's would love it - meaning Perla. SHE LOVED IT!!!:clap::clap: OK so no more Friskies for Perla. We are moving right along. Might even try to slip in some RC Lamb either tomorrow or the next day for her. :cross: I WILL KEEP TRYING with the :princess:

SOON, on the introduction schedule will be Hare Today - Pheasant :cross: Carolina sent me five pounds of meat from HT. Will start with the Pheasant. I just don't think my cat's will like the goat. BUT now that I said that - they will

Oh I'm gasping for air here - the freezer for the canned food! :flail:   OH THOSE PESKY FUSSY KITTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Lauren? Sounds like you're going to have three rotation menus when you get there! One for "most" of them - one for Perla, and one for Pip! :lol3: Thank goodness I've only got two! :lol3:

ALL of my cats like Soulistic except for the Chicken/Tilapia.  And they all agree that the all hate it
.  (that's the one in the brown can, right?)  I'm thinking I might have to go back to Soulistic, just because they're not liking the Weruva too much, or the Tiki, but the Tiki and Soulistic look and smell exactly alike (the chicken, anyway)

I was wondering about the NM beef.  Sorry it was a bust.  So far the only NM that mine like is the lamb, but I have to admit that I haven't tried their organic chicken.

Yep, Chicken and Tilapia is the brown can. I don't know why I never tried Soulistic before. It is cheap, great ingredients and the cat's love it so far. Great for mixing/hiding raw :D. Haven't opened the chicken yet. Tomorrow. My cat's still love the Tiki and Weruva except for Perla

The NM Beef is a very odd reddish pink color too. Very deep red. I don't like the look of it. The bag was free. John let me have a three pound bag for free. I am not saying it is bad... In fact your cat's might like the NM beef since they like the lamb. Walden and Wendall really like the NM beef. I really like NM's ingredients and Pip loves the chicken and turkey. BUT Pip goes crazy for RC chicken and turkey

I have the Hare Today Pheasant de-thawing in the fridge. Wouldn't that be RAWSOME if the four P's loved it :happy3:....... IN MY DREAMS :9:

My kitties didn't like the NM beef at first. Which made the dogs very happy :lol3:. But I still offered it, and after maybe the 4th time they started eating it. Now it disappears fast. They still don't like the NM turkey, though, not a bit. But then I haven't tried regular turkey yet so I don't know if it's specific to NM or if they just don't like turkey. Anyway, the point is, keep offering it! It takes a few times for them to get used to seeing it on their plates.

I did notice that it's very red. I wonder if it's not bled or something. They don't have blood in the ingredient list, though, so it's not added in.

We've been adding more heart to our homemade ground mix, (in order to bring down the bone %) and the mix gets redder and redder.  Do you think heart-meat may be why it's so red?  Or, do they have something like cranberry as an additive?

Too bad we can't exchange food!  I've got almost two complete bags of NM chicken and turkey that no one here really likes, and now you've got that bag of beef and someone here might like.  Hey, you're going out of town in 3 weeks.  Not coming to Phoenix, are you?

:flail: Actually, YES, we are flying into Phoenix..... my father-in-law lives in Sedona and he is picking us up from the airport!!!! OH that is funny!!!! BUT - Walden and Wendall love the NM Beef and are eating it as are my dogs. It is the four fussies that I have the most trouble with. I am not sure the meats would last. :lol3: .... we are taking a road trip through Moab, Utah from Sedona and staying there for two days then traveling by car to Evergreen, Co. to stay with Larry's sister for two days. Will be the busiest six days ever, but I am looking forward to some sightseeing. :bigthumb:

I know I should keep trying to offer it, that is my problem When the fussies immediately reject a meat, I never offer it to them again and the two W's and dogs get that brand. I should keep trying. I really do like NM's ingredients. Good stuff :bigthumb: Thanks for the tip!!!

No cranberry added. Very basic ingredients. Beef muscle, beef liver, beef heart, beef kidney, vitamin/mineral blend. Just all meat.:clap:

OMG, that IS funny!  Too bad it's going to be HOT already.  Mid 90's by this week-end.  But Sedona should be nice.  Hope you're going thru Monument Valley.  There is a newish hotel there where every room has a view.  Supposed to be fabulous.  We're planning on going there sometime this year.  Been there many times, but never stayed the night,, and Utah has some of the most beautiful places on earth IMHO.  And, of course, the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.  That's going to be some trip.   Yes, too bad it's only six days, because there is SO MUCH you could see.  Like Glen Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Havasupai Falls, Canyon de Chelly just for starters.  Well, you've probably been out here before, since Larry's family is out here.

YES - We are going to Monument Valley. I have never been to Utah before but know it is one of the most beautiful places in the country. I am sure it will be a beautiful trip :clap::clap:. Larry's parent's retired in Sedona about 12 years ago. His mother has since passed away. We do love traveling to Sedona - I just hate leaving my cats :sigh:

SO..... Tried the HT Pheasant today!!! When I was preparing the meat and re-packaging, Perkins was going bonkers and trying to get some of the COLD :cold: meat. AND it was freezing, cold meat while I was mixing in the supplement. So I squished some between my fingers to try to warm it up a bit. He liked it :clap::clap::clap: Just as it was, nothing on top  He must have had about 1 ounce over the course of fifteen minutes while I was packaging up the meat. SO... then I knew Pipsqueak would hate it. :lol3: AND it is true, he hated it :bigmouth: I offered some to Pipsqueak at dinner - he was hoping for either the Rad Cat chicken or turkey - and was none to happy about the HT Pheasant. Walden and Wendall loved it, as usual  Perkins and Presley also seemed to like it.:clap::clap: I did mix their portion with some canned Weruva Mack/Jack. I did try to offer Perla some.... a no-go with her. No surprise there either :lol2: Although, Perla did eat some RC Lamb today mixed with Weruva Mack/Jack today!!!!!! I just can't figure her out, so I don't even try anymore. I just go with the Perla-flow!!!!!!!! :rub: :heart2: :worship: :D

Well, at least you've got a system down! Pip eats what everyone else hates. Wendall and Walden (and at least Henry) eat anything, so nothing goes to waste... and you travel to Planet Perla where there are no rules, you just do your best so she'll eat something! :D

:clap::clap:  That about sums it up!!!!!!! Walden, Wendall and Henry.... my one minute or less meal eaters. DO you know IF I just had those three to feed... each mealtime would be about ten minutes from prep to serve to cleanup. :lol3: BUT life would be SO boring then without my other little babies and their wonderful, :frusty: at times, personalities. OH actually, Perkins has joined in with the good eaters club :clap::clap: SO I have FOUR fast eaters (1 dog and three cats) and FOUR fussies (1 dog and three cats) A PERFECT MIX :flail: :frusty:
