conversations at check-out counter

Thread Starter

i was checking out at Lowe's garden center this morning and the lady behind me had one of those foldable dollies. i commented that i 've been thinking about getting one too someday and that i have a regular dollie. she replied that she has a regular dollie too but got this for the house because it'd be easier to move heavy bags of bird seed and kitty litter. i asked her how many kitties she has and she said 'you don't really want to know but then said i have 8. i said i have 9. she said i have 4 doggies too and a couple aviaries. i said i TNR strays and feed them regulary and she said me too. hubby just rolled his eyes and later said should've known there's more like you out there

I tend to strike up conversations with people buying cat food.  Or, sometimes they do with me.  I guess we recognize each other somehow.  laughing02.gif

LOL!  Thats awesome!  I personally like meeting more people like me out there! wink.gif

I once struck up a conversation with a woman in the cat isle at Walmart.  Turned out they were bringing home their first kitten that day and had LOTS of questions.  Thanks to TCS I had answers!  TCS and my own crew of course.  Best trip to Walmart ever. laughing02.gif

Yep, I have done the same thing, struck up conversation with other cat lovers.

Cat lovers have that aura about them I think, we just know each other. Maybe it is the fact I have pictures of my babies in my wallet, etc

One day I saw a man buying about 20 bags of litter and food, and like 40 banquet TV dinners- seems it was just him and the cats (he said he had 21) and that every night, he would sit and heat up his TV dinner, and they laid on the bed with him while they all watched a movie.

I've also struck  up conversations in various stores with people buying cat items or wearing cat theme tee-shirts.    Always leads to a great conversation with cat lovers comparing our kitties, etc.    As we all know, cat people (and animal lovers) are all special people.

So I went to the military commissary yesterday for groceries.  The 2 things I try to get there are cat food and kitty litter- their prices are about $2 less than what Petsmart charges.

As I was checking out- the guy who was helping me said "What do you have a lion or something" laughing02.gif (I had a 30lb container of cat litter.) I told him I had 3 cats.  And that this place had the best prices for cat "stuff".  He wanted to know if any of them were nice.  Told him that Jasper- while he's had some issues and is de-clawed- has to be the nicest lap cat around.  And that there are days that I'm over having 3 of them.  So he wanted to know if I wanted to give away any of them.  Because he's always had dogs but he thought cats were neat.  I said "Do you want the cat that needs thyroid medicine?  Or the one that pees all over the place (Jasper has a spraying problem- we've worked with him and the Feliaway diffusers seem to help- as long as I replace them before they're empty)  Or how about the one that's only 2 and is "mayhem"?  He just laughed at me.

I have a home full of "special needs cats".  Except Holly.  She's just here purely for the entertainment value laughing02.gif
