My poor Oscar has been sneezing. His nose is slightly runny and he's a little less active but still eating drinking and all that good stuff. I remember last year he had a doozy of an URI and had to go in for antibiotics. I think he might be fighting it off as he isn't getting any sicker like he did last time. I hope he doesn't get any worse as I am snowed in as we had a bad snow and ice storm this last week and my car can't get out of my carport without spinning my wheels. (Shoulda got the snow tires). Anyways, any advice on helping him fight this thing off? Just my luck he should get sick during a snowstorm. I'm a native California girl and still not used to this real winter weather lol.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

He likely has a viral infection, so a quick run to the vet won't likely accomplish anything besides getting you stuck in a snowdrift. When antibiotics are prescribed, they're for the secondary infections.
If you have a vaporizer, you can help your cat by putting him in a small room with it. If you have some L-Lysine, you could give him some (500-1000 mg per day) to reduce the effects of the virus.
Mainly, keep an eye on him and get him to the vet if it begins to look like he's in real trouble. But keep in mind that it's similar to a cold, and we can feel pretty miserable with one and still not be in any serious trouble.

Thanks guys, he is still doing ok. He will have a sneezing fit and then be ok for a few hours. He isn't as stuffed up as he was last year. I had to use saline drops on him last year as he couldn't breath out his nose very well. I'm thinking he is fighting it off better this year. I did give him some lysine that I had left over from last time. He was sleeping in the closet on the suitcases which he does if he wants to be left alone, but he came out to eat a little while ago. He hung out while I took a hot shower and that helped him a lot. I wonder if the different vaccine is helping at all. He got the modified live this time instead of the killed virus, and he actually got sick after the vaccine. I was upset when I got him the vaccine but am thinking that it might have made this episode of URI alot more mild.
