Are any of you starting to following the new season of American Idol?  I guess I'm just hooked on that show.

Pam-I know you don't watch the show, but I also know how much you like Steven Tyler.    Watch it just to see him.   I never really knew too much about him or followed him, but I think he's just great on the show.    He's a real character, but in a good way.   He's funny, sympathetic to people, not nasty at all, and seems to genuinely like the contestants.     I think he just makes the show --- even though they occasionally have to bleep out his comments!

If you get to watch it, let me know what you think.

I have a hard time watching the auditions because I just can't stand to see the awful singers and the crazies, and it seems like they focus on them the most.  I put it on last night and the first part was just a montage of people getting golden tickets, then they started talking about the bad singers to come, and I turned it.  Every time I turned it back, it was the same thing.  I will probably watch at it until Hollywood week, then start watching for real.  And I love Steven Tyler (even though I had no real idea who he was before he became a judge).

There was actually quite a few people who made it through. It was 2 hours, so about half was replaying old clips and bad singers and the other half was the decent to good singers that made it through.

Personally, I really only watch the auditions because they amuse me. I haven't followed it through very often. (Enough to see Kelly, Ruben and Scotty win).

I started watching because of Steven Tyler too. Did you see the girl who said she was (going to be) his next ex-wife and got him to hug her? I thought that was very sweet of him, but she overstepped the boundry (IMO) by grabbing his butt.

I watched part of the auditions, and really liked the girl who lives in a tent.  I'm terrible when it comes to a sad story.  But I don't vote, so there's no chance of me voting on back story vs. talent.  (IMHO, the girl who lives in a tent does have a lot of talent, though.)  And Steven Tyler is funny, can come up with a witty remark in an instant.  He's a very charming fellow.  I saw him in concert with Aerosmith years and years ago.
