Boy, that says something if Billy left some behind
.  Well, at least Chumley and Ming Loy liked it, so you won't have to toss it to the ferals
.  I'm hoping it gets a better reaction here.  I think your babies are just spoiled now because they've been on FP.

Mine never liked ground turkey, period. The liked turkey breast the first time I gave it, but not after that. Thank goodness the turkey thigh chunks from Hare Today are a hit. :cross:

3/8/2012 Thursday Dinner

Well the gizzard and liver meal was a BIG flop the 2nd time around. Ming Loy walked away.
Laz ate a few bites, and with a LOT of encouraging almost finished.
Tux ate about half of each (and I'd only given him half the amount of liver because he threw it up last time) - and it took a lot of work to get that far.
Shel, with a LOT of encouraging, ate about half.
Spooky, obviously, ate none.
Flowerbelle only left two small pieces of gizzard. :lol3:

I had duck chunks dethawing. They got duck.

I totally forgot Spooky was on a boycott of BG foods too. :doh3: I thought she was in the cat tree house eating (that's her spot). Actually, she'd left, and Billy ate about 1.5 oz of that before I caught him. That's the first non-raw food Billy has had since January... 22.

I guess the good news is the cats like fresh duck. :lol3:

They do NOT like NM turkey. Chum and Ming Loy finished. But BILLY left some behind.
Laz, Shel, Tux, and Flowerbelle I had to do a 50/50 mix with BFF Tuna & Chicken.
Spooky took a couple of licks of the turkey, but that was it. I gave her 1/3 turkey mixed into 2/3 BFF tuna & chicken, and she ate it all. So that's something, anyway. :lol3:
Funny thing about the NM Turkey - Pipsqueak started liking it after a few offerings :shocker: No one else is that crazy about it. :dk:

Oh our little girls - boycotting certain foods that they just loved the day before :dk: :sigh: Perla will do that too - go off of a canned brand for awhile and then all of the sudden decide that she will eat it again.

p.s. AWWWWW Little Dot - getting fat - she is just too cute, Laurie... :kitty2: I am sure she would love to come inside - do you think she is related to Billy? Can't remember if you thought so :dk: :D

OMG :lol3: sorry have to laugh - BILLY eating Spooky's BG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure Spooky gave you a look and you just didn't notice it - she was probably appalled that you served her the BG. OH BILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He must have been thrilled - it was like getting a McDonalds shake and apple pie all at the same time. I am sure he just thought it was his special day OR that he got away with something really naughty. He was probably eating with lightening speed before you noticed :paranoid: :para2:

OH - and cute about Lazlo eating in the cardboard box. Just too adorable  :heart3: Sorry about the gizzards and liver meal - sounds really scary - liver and gizzards  YIKES.... well - I hope they will get used to that over time :cross: Thank goodness you have the duck :bigthumb:

:lol3: Billy downed that shake in one gulp, and ate the hamburger in about three bites! :flail: Oh he was naughty and DID NOT CARE! :flail:

I should probably stop making him meals, and just let him poach off of everyone else. It may be the only way I get weight off that boy! (For anyone reading this who doesn't know me, I'm joking!!!)

I don't know what's up? Last time they liked it! :dk: I can't imagine what the difference is unless it's temperature. Maybe they like the food a little colder? :dk: Either something like that, or the novelty has already worn off. :lol3:

And I've started having an alternate food ready for those who don't finish. I don't want to be busting out canned for those that will eat raw. :nono:

:hmm: BOY glad you clarified that - was about to call in the Animal Cops :police Car:  :spit: Actually - with the leftover's - that COULD be Billy's meal..... that is what I do for poor Henry - since he will eat anything - he eat's last and gets everybody's leftover's :lol2: He is happy and I always tell him.... "Save the Best for Last" !!!!!!!!!!!! :heart2:

You know, I have noticed that Pipsqueak, Presley and Perkins love the raw a little cold :dk: Not straight from the fridge cold - but not room temperature either. Odd - but hey - it works for them. Funny how we live and learn with these fussies and have back-up food waiting in the wings. We seem to get a little smarter and quicker with solutions as the days go on!!!!!! Right.... :einstein: :heart3:

and who said that feeding raw was not brain surgery.... or rocket science? WRONG! It is! :flail: :lol3:
I am telling you - out of this whole thing, the ones LOVING this "ordeal" are Laurie's ferals :clap::clap: I can see them with all their little toes crossed.... please Lazlo, don't eat this meal.... Please Flowerbelle - don't be a piglet just this time :flail:
They are getting it good and loving every bit (or should I say bite? ) of it :lol3:

:flail: OMG that is probably SOOOOOOOO true about Laurie's ferals. Mine don't get much of the leftover's because I have two dogs to feed after the cats and they usually eat up what the cat's didn't. BUT I can just picture Laurie's ferals, waiting by the door with paws crossed, trying to see in the windows and praying that the inside kitties are being fussy and giving momma a hard time about cleaning their plates :bigmouth:

RIGHT, Carolina, about feeding raw and rocket science..... I am getting much experience in that class :flail: My brain is working on "raw trick's overload" right about now

That was it! They like it chilly. Not fridge cold, not room temperature. Chilly!   I served Spooky her HT ground pork CHILLY this morning - and she ate ALMOST 1.5 oz! :woohoo:

Now - those having issues with ground (Lazlo, Shel, and Tux) required fussing, despite the food being the "proper" temperature. I did get them all (including Flowerbelle now) to eat about 2/3 of their meal. I did NOT give in and give them anything else to eat ALL DAY.

You'd think, right? It's the FERAL ferals that are loving it. If they don't come by, not much gets eaten! The regulars want the junk food, and THAT is why Little Dot is NOT little anymore! I really don't know what to do. I didn't budget feeding 12 cats raw food. But I really don't want to be putting kibbles out there for "the gang" anymore. :(

3/9/12 Friday Dinner
Turkey Hearts
OK, to be fair, I didn't offer any to Spooky. After dethawing, there wasn't enough. I'm going to have to start "overbudgeting" when packaging frozen food by a lot more than I have. :slant:

But, the hunger thing worked! I'm going to have to say - Flowerbelle's favorite raw food is heart! :heart3:

WELL - Momma was a tough cookie today :lol3: - stuck to her rule of NO extra food until dinner. Sometimes..... I think that is what I will need to start doing. Hunger really does get them wanting to try something new or at least it helps tremendously!!! So glad to hear that Spooky ate so well today :woohoo: She likes it chilly :cold: :lol3: Great that she liked the Ziwi Peak too!!! I have never tried that - only because no one sells it around here. Would love to have some on hand - the Ziwi Peak!!!!!!

Glad your day went well ... so far :D :clap::clap::clap::clap:

And :woohoo: it ended well!

3/9/12 Friday Late Night Meal

Fresh turkey thigh!

OK, Billy now sits - well - strains toward me as I move around and meows, begging - but STAYS, anyway, that's the key really - stays on his eating spot until I serve everyone else. :lol3: He still finishes first, but it gives him less time to poach other kitty's food.

Lazlo needed a little sprinkle of the current magic dehydrated chicken liver mid-way through the meal.
Flowerbelle needed a little to finish the last four small pieces.
Otherwise... we had 7 full bowls, and we finished with 7 empty bowls! :D

And Spooky didn't want to try any, but I only cut her four small pieces. Chum and Shel were quite happy to finish those. She ate 2 oz ( ) of Evo chicken & turkey.

Tomorrow morning.... NM chicken. :cross: At least they seem to like it better than the lamb or turkey these days. :cross: and knock wood. :lol3:

3/10/12 AM Meal

I'm going to have no choice! The ferals are going to wind up eating all of this Nature's Menu food! This morning was NM chicken, and not only did Billy not finish, Ming Loy didn't either! They HATE the turkey, and now they're refusing the chicken. And the lamb didn't go so well when they last ate that either.

I only had 4 oz of HT ground pork dethawed (since that's what Spooky eats, that's what she'll get at least once a day LOL). So I really had no choice this morning but to break out the ziwi peak for pretty much everyone. :bawling: The only one that ate the NM chicken without fuss was Chumley.

The good news is that Spooky ate 1.7 oz of raw ground pork!

Dinner tonight (the organ meal) ... lamb & kidney. They ate it really well the first time. Last time was just OK. Let's see what happens today.... :cross:

AWWWWW DARN IT!!! I know how utterly frustrating it is and I am having problems with NM and the fussies too. The chicken is NOT a big hit over here at all. Except for Walden and Wendall :D. EVEN the dog's are not crazy about the NM Chicken and NM Lamb :sigh: OH boy - your feral's are licking their chops this morning and I am sure will be happy to eat up the Nature's Menu. WHAT a bummer - and all I can say .... is thank goodness we can offer the meat to the feral's and just know they will appreciate it :lol3: and not have to "toss" it :nothappy: No fun when you thaw out meals only to have them refused and then have nothing else thawed as a back-up. AND if you do have a back-up thawed then they would have eaten the first offering :lol2:.... right ..... :lol3:

:jump: YAY FOR SPOOKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eating SO much ground pork :banana1: :D

:cross: :vibes: :cross: :vibes: for Lamb and Kidney tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cross:

:lol3: Of course! If I had a back up dethawed, I wouldn't have needed it! :flail:

3/10/12 Saturday Dinner
Fresh lamb and beef kidney.

I remembered to give Shel just 0.3oz (up from 0.25 LOL) of the beef kidney, but I forgot to feed him half his lamb, give him the kidney, then give him the rest of his lamb. :( Yep, it all came right back up after dinner. :barf:

Tuxie needed help finishing, but it wasn't so bad.

I could do absolutely nothing to get Flowerbelle to finish up the kidney. I hand fed it, I rolled it in WL chicken, I sprinkled powdered chicken liver on it, I tried coating it with some of Spooky's EVO chicken & Turkey. Nope, she was NOT going to finish.

I checked Chumley's eating spot - he hadn't taken anything out of his bowl and dropped it (LOL, that is just too cute), so I grabbed his bowl and put it in the sink. A few minutes later, I'm putting another bowl in the sink and thinking... who left all that kidney? :flail: I sprinkled WL chicken on there - MAJOR treat for him, as the fussies don't get toppers, and I don't give treats during the day. So he gobbled that right up. :lol3:

Lazlo needed some major help to finish both his kidney AND the lamb. :rolleyes2: Rolling his lamb in WL chicken and feeding it to him piece by piece on no plate worked again. But not for the kidney. In the end, I had to slather it in Spooky's EVO, and he ate it.

Ming Loy and Billy, thankfully, ate all their food with no problem. They'd have been happy to finish everyone else's as well. :lol3:

And Spooky didn't want her EVO chicken & turkey. I thought it might be because it had been in the fridge since yesterday. :dk: I usually feed leftovers to the ferals, these guys have never had leftovers. I figured if it was a little chilly, it wouldn't bother her, she likes her raw food that way. But she wouldn't eat it. I don't have more ziwi peak, I just bought the two because the kitties didn't like it much the last time. So I had to try BG turkey. But nope, she's still on her BG boycott. I have one can of BFF left. I'll let her have some at the late night meal if she won't eat the fresh pork. :dk:

:hugs:  :hugs:  :hugs:  :hugs: :D....... WOW you REALLY had your work cut out for you on that one.... :hugs: : sweet little Flowerbelle - :sigh: making you practically jump through hoops to get her to eat the kidney. I hate "hoop jumping' :sigh: :lol3:

OH NO about SHEL :barf: I guess he told you - again - :nono: MOMMA I NEED MY LAMB FIRST :sheep: Oh dear - the kidney - it sounds like the kids made you totally  this one out. You had to really work on dinner last night - AWWWWWWW You are really a wonderful momma :heart3: These kitties just break our hearts on some of these meals :lol3:

:cross: and :vibes: For Spooky - she sounds so much like Perla lately - :uuh: Boycotting this and boycotting that - and then all of the sudden eating it again and then back to boycotting. :sigh: Hope she ate the pork late night - but BFF is always a good "final answer" that always works :lol2: :vibes:

Kidney is a flop overhere too..... Oh well.... who in their sane mind would eat jelly pee, you know? :barf: Well.... Bugsy happily does, but boy is a giant for a reason  :lol3:
Now that Lucky has REALLY chosen Frankerprey..... I really have to get going on the meat here - I think I will just pack all my ground and ship it to Lauren for Freezer space - NM, Rad Cat, HT.... :lol3: Happy kitties overthere, empty freezer overhere..... Works!
Will just talk to the V-E-T about the spleen - no more kidney for me :lol3: and will place an order with HT and the source for spleen..... then I have a box to ship the goodies for Lauren
Ops........ sorry for the :hijack: as I think outloud

I bought some sardines (packed in water), but was wondering how (and when) to serve it.  Like do I cut it up?  Would it replace a meal, how much should each cat get, etc?  What are you doing, Laurie?
