Babysitting!

I'm not too concerned about this situation, because we will only be babysitting for 2 days.

A friend of mine needs someone to watch her cat Howard while she is out of town. She asked me because she knew I can't say no to another cat :)

My cat Opeo has never met Howard. Both males are neutered and up to date on all vaccines and check-ups.

Would it be a good idea to keep them separated? I have a spare room so it's no issue. I just don't want Howard to be lonely. I also don't want him to get beat up..

Anyone had experience babysitting when they have a cat who already "owns the territory"?

This should be a fun experience though! laughing02.gif

Opeo meets Howard....poor Howard is hiding behind the shower curtain! Lots of deep growling and grumbling haha....no swipes so far.

I would keep them seperated. With the little amount of time they will be in the same house, the only interactions they will have are going to be the saem as what you just saw, with growling, hissing, and maybe some lunging/running away.

Cats are really territorial, and I don't think your cat would enjoy Howard wandering around. I know whenever I have done introductions, I never let them meet right away, and usually not for a couple days so they can get used to each others' smells before they see each other.

I've never had any visitors yet, so I can provide no advise .. but I just wanted to say good luck lol I hope the boys get along!!
