A few days ago, I decided to bleach some of my white unmentionables by hand so I didn't have to spend the $1.75 on our apartment's washer and dryer for a few clothes. Despite many washes and rinses, they still smell like bleach. Does anyone know of an easy fix, besides doing the wash I've been trying to avoid?

Are you trying to get rid of the smell from the clothes or the apartment?

For the clothes: Febreze.

For the apartment: Incense.

Teresa's suggestion is a good one. It sounds like you used too much bleach though. You really only need a 10% bleach solution in your laundry.

Bleach ruins the elastics on your underclothes. . . .
I presoak mine in warm water with a little borax (Mule Team) and laundry detergent. It's great for getting out stains during "that time of month".
