Ghost is now a full member of the family. She plays with the other young cats and with the older ones, if they let her. She is a love bug when she is in the mood. She goes anywhere in the house with confidence.  She visits us in bed for scratchings (and sometimes to play bed mice
). She loves the kitty warm spot (pet safe heating blanket) on one of the cat condos, and we often see her sprawled from one side to the other. She's learned to barge her way into the feeding frenzy to get her share of the yummy soft food. She has certainly worked her way deep into our hearts. We're just amazed at how well she is doing.

Ghost is our "hit by car" (our car
) cat who miraculously had only minor head trauma and a cut lip. The first three weeks we had her in a downstairs room, and progress was glacial. We got her spayed and installed her in a cage in our computer room. That made all the difference. Ghost quickly learned that scratching was really nice. She met the other kitties in a safe way. Pretty soon we were letting her out to explore. After 4 weeks she had the run of the house. At 6 weeks we took the cage down. We had a very special Christmas present - Ghost fully integrated into the household.

We are still in awe of how well she is doing. We tell her what a brave kitty she is, getting used to the big scary humans. I don't know if she was a barn cat or dumped in the country, but she'll never want for anything now. She'll have all the food, love, and attention she can handle (plus vet care, etc.).

We never wanted 9 cats, but Bast apparently had other ideas. We have no regrets. We are completely in love with our little tortie Ghost kitty.

Thanks to those who offered advice and support. It really helped, especially when we thought she'd never get used to us. And to those of you dealing with strays/ferals...hang in there! The results can be so wonderful.

Hello Kalynnda !!!!!!!! I couldn't be more HAPPY to hear this update on Ghost. I do remember the awful beginning she had and it just truly heartwarming to hear how you saved her life :hugs::hugs: :heart3: AWWWWWW what a wonderful Christmas present and a great start to your New Year. I hope this year brings you and your NINE babies great peace, health and joy. You are right about the "hanging in there" - just when you are about to give up - dig down deep - because it IS so very, very worth the time and effort. Thanks for sharing your wonderful story and news :clap::wavey:
