I am looking for advice and your own experiences with your kitties and heart murmurs.   My original thread is "vibes for Beeshee Marie" or something to that effect that I started earlier today.

I just managed to get probably at least 12 mls of milked down baby food in her.  The vet sent her home with an appitite stim and amoxy since her blood work indicated possible gall bladder probs and maybe there is an infection brewing there.  His advice is to see if she starts eating.  He gave her sub q fluids too.  We spoke about a sonogram or echo cardio...not sure which he said.

I guess I need encouragement, as everyone on here does from time to time.  She is not even 3 years old yet and so many problems for such a young little girl have just appeard.

Sorry if this sounds disjointed, but my mind is all full of stuff right now.  I am probably going to have the films done.  We need to know if there is heart disease and how bad it is.  Her heart is strong he said and when he pressed her gums, they recovered the pinkish color very quickly.  A bit of good news among all the bad.  She is very lethargic and just wants to sleep.  I am just watching for her to start to wash or  show some routine behavior.  So hard to see her like this.

Thanks in advance everyone.  FarleyV

What a rough day for you and Beeshee Marie. Hopefully the appetite stimulant works and gets her eating properly soon.

My Cotton
had a level 2 heart murmur but it didn't ever affect him, so I don't have any real advice, just some info I hope wil brighten your day a little - my aunt's kitty, Blossom has had a level 5 murmur since she was 3 months old and she just turned 16.

Lots of
coming for you guys. Hopefully someone can give you some more info and advice.

Awww hun I am sorry she is not doing so well.....:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: For her to start eating soon :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
As far as the heart murmurs, there is a new blood test now, Cardiopet Pro bnp that can be taken at your vet's office and sent to IDEXX, which will test for HCM.....
When Hope came up with her heart murmur, my vet told me I should scan her for it, since she pants.... Now that I know about this test, I am going to request on her next vet visit, as it is so much more affordable and readily available , just in case.
I heard different things about heart murmurs from my vets - it can indicate a heart problem sometimes, such as HCM - so you need to keep on alert for behavior and health changes and keep the murmur in mind to check the heart when odd symptoms appears - check for heart enlargement for example every few years or so - my vet told me to do a baseline when she turns into a senior, etc; but more often than not kitties will live all their lives without any problem at all.... Nothing will come up from it.
So, it is not necessarily a cause for concern, but when it comes with other symptoms, lethargy, lack of appetite, cough and my vet told me even diarrhea (Hope had at the time) it can be something to be looked at it as a whole - not to be dismissed, as it can be the heart acting up....
Hopefully she will be alright, and this will be nothing to worry about it :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
