Day Cat, Night Cat

Thread Starter

Does anyone else have cats that prefer to snuggle and give affection only at a certain time of the day?

Cassie enjoys being with me during the day, sleeping on my lap and curling close to me. She never lets me away from her for more than a few feet. Monet enjoys sitting on top of the couch and staying at arm's length.. close but not touching. He never (if ever) snuggles with me during the day, but does let me approach and pet him when he's in the mood.

However, it's opposite at night when it comes to bedtime. Cassie sleeps at the edge of the bed, close to me, but barely touching (sometimes she'd sleep against my feet).. if I pet her, she'd usually get up and off the bed. Monet curls up right against my chest when I am on my side. He HAS to be touching me at night. If I ever roll on my back, he'd never hesitate to quickly climb on my chest and demand a petting, waking me up. He's definitely more snuggly at nights.

Does anyone else have cats with this sort of attitude? It's like they're saying "OK, you can have Meowmy during the day, but I get the bed snuggles at night!"

While my Stumpy and Scarlett work every opportunity day or night to snuggle, the rest of mine are mostly night time snugglers. They make a bee line to the bed when I hop in there, and I get smoothered in cats for a while until I fall asleep. Some join me on the sofa at night if I'm sitting quietly watching TV. I guess its part the time of day, but it's also when they know I'm sitting still. I never sit still very long during the day.
