I brought Tiger home from the shelter to foster, honestly afraid it might be to watch her waste away. She wasn't eating at the shelter. After much anguish and experimentation, we found she would eat soft food, thoroughly mixed with water and mushed up. After that, she got a lot better.
But she was a sweet cat. Old, clearly, and frail, but always up for a cuddle. We took her back to the shelter, and she was picked up by a rescue we deal with a lot (Cat Matchers, in north Dallas). The folks who picked her and took her home, where their son fell in love with her. Once I talked to them and told them the secret to feeding her, she settled in for a forever home.
Unfortunately, her frailty and old age and toothlessness and poor eating had so weakened her that she didn't have very long to enjoy forever. She's now at the Bridge, no longer toothless and hungry. I hope she found someone there right away to love her.
