For DevonLover (Just found Pro Pet Fresh Results Clumping Corncob Cat Litter at Walmart and bought a bag.)  I just did a search at Wal-Mart and can't find this litter for my region (Jacksonville, FL).  If you can tell me your city & state, I can put that in Wal-Mart's site and hopefully I could get it via their on-line shopping tab.

I currently use the Arm & Hammer Essentials litter and mix it with Fresh Step litter for use in the Littermaid cat box.  The Arm & Hammer deodorizes wonderfully (and the cats have no problem with the fragance) but it doesn't clump all that great, so I mix in the Fresh Step and the mixture works great, clumps stay together and odor control works for my 3 boys.

I had one cat that would only use pine pellets if i used anything else she would not use her box. I myself prefer clumping litter because its easy to scoop out the clumps i can clean it daily so there isnt allot of smelly cat feces in a box for days on end. I now have 2 new kittens and they have no problems useing the clumping litter. i'm use tidy cat ihts readily available and resonable in price.

To be fair, I find the smell of scented litter to be rather noxious, and my sense of smell is generally poor--so I understand why some cats wouldn't like it.

I've actually been thinking about looking into different litter types myself, because litter in general aggravates my sinuses something awful. I used regular litter (eg. Arm & Hammer) for years because it worked for the cats, and until recently I didn't know there were other choices out there. Finding out that there are so many alternatives is really heartening.

I buy a giant box of vinyl gloves cheap from the beauty supply store and clean out the box with my gloved hand. Preferable because a) I don't have to deal with the soiled scooper b) I can check the poop for worms. If I go more than two days w/o cleaning the litter, the cats express their irritation by shoveling litter out of the box all over the floor.

Hi

I've been through many. I have found Swheat Scoop Natural Litter to be my Favorite. ( Regular, not Multi-Cat) Odor control is Excellent. Scoop without fighting hard clumps. I find it very low on dust. I pour it in close to the tray. Some small tracking, but if you step on this stuff, it won't send you hopping or sliding across the floor.  It's Biodegradable. I saw one person comment on moths. I have gotten those only when the cats were going outside more. I thought it would be okay to just leave it in the litter box. When I did notice that was the moth culprit, I poured it into the dirt outside. I think it is getting more expensive and in smaller packaging. That sucks. But what product hasn't taken that path! I coupon hunt, too. I give Swheat Scoop (5) out of (5) Stars!

As a long time Arm & Hammer Super Scoop user, I wanted to broaden my horizons by trying to find another sand like clumping litter, with less dust. I have tried the following:

Dr Elsey's = too dusty. That stuff fills my whole room with dust & odor every time I clean the boxes. Swheat Scoop =  awesome! No dust or very little, I can't see any, no smell & it clumps great.
World's Best = too dusty. I have a fine coating of dust all over the top of my box that I put it in.

I typically mix Super Scoop with Essentials Natural Clumping. I get the sand texture & the fast clumping action but also the "filler" of the natural corn litter. I've found that when a cat pees on straight Super Scoop, it travels far & wide & then it turns to a giant piece of cement. It wastes way too much.

I wonder if anyone has heard anything about Oko Cat Clumping Litter?  Its on Amazon and is a pine natural litter that has a lot of good reviews on Amazon.

I am looking for a new litter, to replace the Worlds Best, because I am hoping to replace the 'corn,' ingredient with pine.

My cats have tried Feline Pine Pellets, and didn't like the pellet feel on their feet ( wouldn't cover their business at all )  and I found it didn't clump well at all.

Now I understand that Feline Pine has a Pine Clumping Litter that is more the consistency of Worlds Best ( kind of a grainy crumble sawdust ) and also Feline Pine has apparently just come out with a brand NEW litter, Feline Pine and Cedar Combination called  Healthy Home Solutions, which apparently has all clean pure ingredients and just pine and cedar, in a crumbly formula.

I am going to Petsmart today to pick that up "Healthy Home Solutions Feline Pine / Cedar " today.  I will let you guys know how it goes for me.

If anyone has any thoughts on these products, please post.

I liked Worlds Best very much, albeit pricey,  because it clumped well, picked up clean and cats love it, but most importantly, it has no sodium benzonite ( sp? ) or anything other chemical clump agent that I am HORRIBLY allergic to.

The only thing is that I am trying to get away from the corn base.  I scoop twice a day and dump the whole thing every 10 days or so, but I live in south Florida  ( AC on super cold all the time )  and the corn, albeit inside, concerns me as I worry about mold, etc.  with moist corn and heat.  I have read concerning things about the corn and mold.

I have used WB for three years and had zero problems, but then I scoop twice a day and after ten days with two big cats, even when clean, it stars to smell a little funky so I usually dump it at that point.  And I have heard that most corn sold on the market today is GMO  ( genetically modified ) so that kind of concerns me too.  But I guess its  a toss up between dusty clay (not from the US ) , GMO corn and regular clumping clay  litter with the sodium bezonite ( sp? )   Yikes, not many solutions.    I will admit the original Feline Pine....I was not allergic and I felt it was safe but my cats hated the pellets and it clumped poorly.  I am hoping that one of their newer gravel-consistency forumulas might have what I am looking for.

Regarding Feline Pine......I don't think you can go wrong with the new Pine and Pine and Cedar which would be even more of an anti-microbial and would hopefully be safe.  I called the company and they said that, although the clumping agent they use in Feline Pine is  'proprietary,' they did say there are no chemicals and its all natural.  I just want to see how it works out clumping wise and I will report back.

Any thoughts?

therese therese after you try different litter you could report the results here and also do a review of it in our Review section. That way more people are likely to see it.

I will look for the new Pine & Cedar at Walmart today myself.  I try every new litter if it's not too pricey just so I will know about it and have an opinion to share.  I do note here that what one person hates, another person loves, so it's all opinion anyhow, ours and the cats.  I just adopted a kitten to a home that uses that box with the pellets -- they already had one for their existing cat and bought another one for him because I told them they should have one more litter box than they had cats, and I gave them a temporary pan to take with the kitten while he's in trial mode in a "safe room" environment.  I did warn them that he may not recognize those giant pellets as litter so he may need some introduction to that type of litter box.  I know nothing about it (way too expensive a system for me to use as a trial.)

I am going to forego the new  ( Arm & Hammer, Feline Pine )    Pine and Cedar Health Home Solutions litter right now ......given the company called me and would not tell me what the clumping agent was.  Said it was 'proprietary,' but I don't like the fact that they weren't transparent about it.  And I looked at the bag....not sure if it has chemicals or not....the 'ingredients' just say  "clumping agent, ' which could be anything.

However, Feline Pine ( same company )  has a clumping version of the pure pine litter ( no pellets, this is gravel-ey sawdust type ) which is, as far as I can see, is the same as the pellets but ground down into gravel.     and they DID say that clump agent was GUAR GUM which is a food-stuff, not corn.    And in the ingredients on bag is says clumping agent: guar gum.  It may or may not be a good clumper but we shall see.

So, I bought a big bag of that one, but won't be able to report until my other litter runs out and I put it into use, probably in a couple weeks.....I definitely will report back here and in the reviews.

Honestly, this should NOT be so complicated !

Every cat is different. I know mine wouldn't use the store brand cat litters, and I kept switching and now they will only use scoop away. I love it, and I've heard about scented litter not being cats favorite but I think it just sorta varies. I use scented scoop away and it's amazing.

Since we have been talking on this thread, I wanted to report back to you guys on my experiment with a new litter.

I am limited in the type of litter I can use.....I can't use any of the standard clumping litters b/c I am very allergic to the clumping agents in say, Tidy Cat, etc....Even with Feline Pine and WB, I have to scoop twice a day with an H1N1 mask, but find that either of these brands, don't bother my allergies.

In this experiment, I tried Feline Pine Clumping litter ( not the pellets, they were bad ....but the regular clumping )

I love Worlds Best Pine Scented, but was trying to get away from the GMO corn aspect of the litter if I could find a good replacement....most corn is GMO now, etc. and I thought I would try something else, depsite the fact that Worlds Best IS, to me, the BEST in every way.

I found that the Feline Pine Clumping Litter, pure pine gravel-ey  stuff,  which uses guar gum ( a foodstuff and non-irritant for me )  as a clumping agent, didn't make me allergic and actually worked pretty well.

I will post the review on the review area of this site, but over all I gave it four stars....the odor control was pretty good, not great, but pretty good.... given it is pure natural with no chemicals.

The clumping was ok, not great, because the litter itself is kind of like a fluffy sawdust type, very lightweight, most clumped ok,  with a few little crumbles, but nothing I couldn't live with......  If I had one 7 lb cat, this stuff would be great.   But my two are each 15 lbs and one gets IBD-ish  soft stool, is on fiber, and well, you know how that goes.....even with scooping twice a day, and tossing it all out every ten days, the boxes can get funky.

If I couldn't use WB, I would definitely use this, but as it stands, I went back to the Worlds Best.

Nothing matches WB for clumpability ( is that a word ?  LOL )  and a total clean pick up....once in a while, you get a little sludge in the bottom, but if you shake the pan, it comes right up.  And WB odor control, given that it is just corn, is second to none.  So I will live with the GMO corn thing and move on from there.

But Feline Pine Clumping Litter is a very good product, puts out a respectable preformance, odor control and clumpability is about a  'B' if I were to give it a grade.  And it is much lighter to carry, BTW, than any of the other litters, including WB, if you have any back issues, etc.

I'm also looking for the "perfect" litter. I tried arm and hammer clump and seal and even though I enjoyed the clumping, the litter itself had a bad odor, never mind when after it was soiled. I'm currently using fresh step crystals and my kitten likes it, but I think it may be uncomfortable on her paws. The odor control is decent and it's easy to clean since the urine gets absorbed into the crystals, it's a bit expensive though. I'm looking into trying ever clean but I worry about the dust. Apparently clumping litter is not good for the environment and most cats are opposed to scented litters. (I haven't had the courage to try scented varieties yet)

We just use Tidy Cats, but the Performance 24/7 variety.

it is very light scented and has a bit of dust, but we transfer from a new box to a bucket when the later is empty, and we do it on the patio so after that we have no dust problems at all. Scooping daily we only need to refill once a week and maybe do a complete switch once a month. But we haven't needed to do it since we switched their food

I use Dr. Elsey"s Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Cat Litter.  I had tried a few different kinds and always had issue's with the dust.  Was using Fresh Step & the girls were smelling like litter all the time and anytime i would change the litter it would set off my allergies and asthma so I happened to see the Dr. Elsey's in the store so gave it a shot and it is 99% dust free.  I can dump a whole 40lb bag into a container without a big dust cloud hitting my face.  No effect on my allergies or asthma at all which is a big plus.
