Smarties started peeing

This is not like her at all,its since we have got Angel,yesterday she walked into the lounge bold as brass went up to the speaker turned round and like sprayed up it!! Then today she has done the same in front of my washer.

  Smartie has been the only one that is aggressive towards Angel and has not liked the fact that she is here. I have feliway diffusers,a litter tray each and I give all the kitties attention,perhaps a bit more lately to Smartie as she has felt the worst about us getting Angel. I am not sure what to do.Any advice would be appreciated as Dh is not impressed at allrolleyes.gif (he isn't the greatest cat lover in the world).x

Can you, maybe, keep them separate until she adjusts?  My hubby has his moments with being "not the biggest cat lover" too...so I feel ya there!  Hope everything settles down soon.  Sounds like Smarite is just marking the turf...but still, I know it is no fun cleaning cat pee!

Thanks,its hard to keep them seperate as Angel now has the run of the house and all the other kittys are happy with her being here.If I was to put smartie seperately I don't think she would be happy and I think it may things worse. I didn't really tell her off as I don't want to stress her more,I just firmly said "NO smartie" and she looked at me as if she knew what she had done was wrong. I am concerned as I had a peeing problem a while back with a cat that the lady left here when we moved into her house,our cats urinated everywhere. I cured the problem with using really just enzyme cleaner which I have used again.Its not like its puddles of pee its more like a spraying to mark her territory I think although I didn't know that female cats could spray like that until I saw it yesterday.x

Oh yeah...girls will do it!  My only sprayer is Chloe (female) and she only did it one time just after Juno came into the house.  Chloe is the more nervous purrsonality of the bunch too...that may have something to do with it, I guess.

I am just really suprised that its smartie,I would have expected Candy or Fudge to be affected by us having Angel as they are the ones that have the special needs and seem to get stressed out more than the others.Touch wood she hasn't done anything today.x

My Paige started doing this, too, when I rescued King Arthurs mom and she had her kittens.  I tried everything, too and nothing worked.  Then, my vet recommended The Calming Collar.  It worked wonders!!!  She stopped doing it and it smells good, too.  I thought it stopped working when the month was over and the second I took it off, the behavior started again... So I had to rush out and get her another.  You can pick them up at any pet specialty store. They cost about $6-$7 a collar.  And just because the month is up, don't think they've lost their effectiveness and make sure you have a new one ready to replace the one you are taking off handy!!  Best of luck, poor girl...

Wow,this sounds great,I am willing to give it a try and it may be beneficial for my kitty candy who has terrible stress issues.I wonder if they are available in England?x

I don't know, but look it up online.  Maybe you can order it?  It smells like an aromatherapy candle around their neck.  It smells really good!!  All my friends commented that they were going to get one for themselves and put it around their necks!!

 

EDIT:  I use the Pro Pet Stress/Anxiety Calming Collar.  But, for some reason, you can't really find it now unless your vet orders it.  So, I found this one online, too,  It should be the same thing....

The one I use is the Pro Pet brand one.  It has excellent reviews and you used to be able to find it everywhere here... Then a couple months ago, they took it off the shelves.  Now my vet is the only one who can get it.  He says it is because they felt that it was prescription strength and needed to be treated as such.  I see good reviews for the one on Amazon.  It seems to be the same thing.  If you can find the Pro Pet one, definately get that one instead, I know it works!  But, this one looks good, too, as an alternative.
