Halo Spots Stew?

No carrageenan in the turkey, chicken or salmon.

Always read the labels as some flavours contain it and others don't within the same brand.

Thank you yet again Carolina. I don't like all the veggies in Spots Stew but I'm thinking that's better then A. Dehydration and B. carrageenan!
Has anyone tried Spots Stew wet cat food?

This is a bit of an old post but I want to bring it back to life and interject a new food I found.  As an owner of a former (recently passed) IBD kitty I have been through the ringer trying to locate single protein non Carragean wet food that my baby liked. Sorry I can never spell Carragean lol.

Anyhoo, I wanted to bring up the Lotus brand up again. It was mentioned before in this thread and it really is a great single protein, no guar or Xanthine gum and no carragean food. The protein content at 36% is a bit low for my current needs-I have a kitten now-but fine for older and IBD kitties.

I wanted to tell you all about Lotuses new line. It is called "Just Juicy" It is a bit pricey-over 3 bucks a can but the protein level impressive AND it has none of those added things we do not care for. I cannot include a link as I am new here and if I did my whole post would be lost
. So ya'll  will have to google yourself.

I am very interested in your opinion on this new food.

I am also interested in the new development of pork cat foods. Just Juicy and Natures variety canned has all pork flavors now. What do you all think of that?

My almost two year old kitty, Leo, loves the chicken and turkey stews. There are lots of veggies in them, but I'd rather have that than the additive crap.

This looks like one of our go to foods now as my 5 monther loves it. She just ate 2 cans today one lamb and one chicken and beef! She is making up for barely eating her hated Natures Instinct Duck yesterday. Sigh

I HATE the whole green beans and peas and carrots though and I separate them out. But she likes em and eats em. The protein is not as high as I would like either. But I am happy to find a food she will eat at this time. Belly full of Halo!

My 8 month old kitten seems to have the same issues with carrageenan and guar gum (and also foods with a lot of fish).  Here are the canned foods I've found that do not have carrageenan or guar gum:

Nature's Logic - All canned formulas

Nature's Variety - All "Instinct" formulas

Fromm "Four Star" Grain-Free

Newman's Own Organics Grain-Free Canned Cat Food - All "grain-free" varieties

Note: The "Newman's Own Organics" non grain-free formulas DO have both carrageenan and guar gum

Tiki Cat (select formulas):

Hawaiian Grill (Ahi Tuna)

Puka Puka Luau (Chicken in Chicken Consomme)

Koolina Luau (Chicken w/ Egg in Chicken Consomme)

Hanalei Luau (Wild Salmon in Salmon Consomme)

Napili Luau (Wild Salmon & Chicken in Chicken Consomme)

Hookena Luau (Ahi Tuna & Chicken in Chicken Consomme)

Papeekeo Luau (Ahi Tuna & Mackerel in Tuna Consomme)

Manana Luau (Ahí Tuna w/ Tiger Prawns in Tuna Consomme)

Hana Luau (Ahi Tuna w/ Crab in Tuna Consomme)
Just wondering but I have heard not to feed cats fish. I really like tiki cat, but even there chicken flavors have fish oil in them so doesn't that constitutes having fish in their food?

I found your list of carrageenan, guar gum free cat food while searching. Being this is an old post maybe things have changed but Newmans Own Organics does have both carrageenan and guar gum at this time. But thanks for leading us to some others that we will be trying!

Halo is the food responsible for my kitty's seizures. It does have carrageenan. It also

burned' the skin of an older cat. Was feeding Halo pate for 9 months. Called the company to see if any of their can food would work. Nope!

Wow sorry to hear that Halo got your cats sick. I use to buy Halo spots stew. It does not have Carragean. I stopped buying though because the protein content is to low and they put to many vegetables in there. I like that I can pick them out but gee whiz the cat was getting more vegetables than me!

What do you think in the pate hurt your babies?

See youtube or book; "The Taste That Kills: Excitotoxins"  [Blaylock is a neurosurgeon]

BTW carrageenan, gums, MSG are excitotoxins.

Spot's stew has Guar gum. It also has manganese and garlic powder.. Many of the halo products also have rosemary added as well as broth which is MSG, it's the glutamic amino acid causing havoc.

Heyo. I don't want to start controversy but from what I have researched, carrageenan may not be that big of a deal. It is FDA approved, NOP (National Organic Program) approved, and European Food Safety Authority approved. This stuff has been tested ALOT. It is used in many human products including infant formula, ice cream, and organic chocolate milk. There is just not evidence to say that it causes cancer. What it MAY cause is inflammation and this was only seen when added to drinking water. In one study, multiple generations of rats and hamsters were fed 5% carrageenan in their food with no ill effects. SO, if you are just not comfortable with it because hell, who knows, maybe it's killing us all, then go ahead. What I think is more important is feeding grain and veg free, low carb low phosphorus. Whole Foods has a Whole Paws wet food line that my extremely picky cat loves and it has a short list of wholesome ingredients with no grains corn or soy and no veggies. But I think it has carrageenan. Not worried here.

True it does have those things. But I was only concerned with the carragean and I have backed off my carragean fear since I resurrected this thread . I am just going raw or canned grain free, high "appropriate" protein and no fish . Whit does not like it anymore anyhoo.
