Neutering Anxiety

Thread Starter

So it has come time that I realized that I really need to get Ichi neutered. He is nearing the 6 month mark. I am going to call and try to make an appointment somewhere tomorrow but I am really anxious about having the procedure done. I just get really worried he'll be in a lot of pain or be angry with me for taking him to the vet. I think also being away from him and knowing that he isn't safe at home is going to really worry me. I just need some comforting and maybe some big pros as to why I am getting him neutered. Besides the obvious of continual population of little Ichi's and him spraying all my clothes and furniture.

You are definitaly doing the right thing.  Your kitty will not be mad at you.  And as far as discomfort, all my males have come home and you would never have known they had the procedure done.  Out of the crate and off pretty much.

Some are a bit drowsy, while others are ready to resume their normal activities.  Honestly, it is not a big deal.  Male cats are easier to neuter than a female spay.  No really invasive surgery.  I had my cat Barney done this summer.  He came out of the operation fine...let ;him out of crate and he started looking for his food and was ready to play.

You are doing him a huge favor by neutering him.  It is the definition of a responsible kitty owner.

Relax...he will be fine.

Definitely!!

Just confirming what's been said that boys are much easier to do than girls. They usually give them a pain injection while their under, and it's usually a slow release one so they have plenty of pain relief, but mention it when you take him in.

Jack slept most of the night, but although it was warm l still put a blanket over him,  because when Rosie was spayed she started shivering in her sleep so l rang the vet and they told me to cover her as it was the anaesthetic making her cold.

The following day Jack was playing about as if nothing had happened! laughing02.gif

By having him neutered your doing him and yourself a massive favour, plus your being very responsible  wink.gif

Other than perhaps being a bit drowsy from the anesthesia and hungry from having to fast around 12 hours beforehand, most males don't seem to be affected by the surgery at all. IME, cats usually direct any anger about having to go to the vet's at the vet, vet techs and/or their carriers, not their owners.
