Hello,

When my cat plays outside I leave a little opening either window or door and he manages to get back in.
So the stray cat got in that way.
Yesterday and today the same stray cat came in, searching for my cat obviously.
I moved here almost 3 months with no stray cats in my garden.
That's kind of funny. Silly stray. I agree that he is probably trying to claim territory. Maybe put some food about 50 feet away to discourage him from going to your door.
Is there such thing as an automated cat door that only opens to the cat that's wearing the collar to open it? the stray won't be able to get in without the collar
Yes, but last time I looked them up for someone on this forum I saw that they were insanely expensive at over $120 for one door and collar. I know it's RFID and all, but that's kind of a ridiculous price. If the OP has extra money lying around that could be used for this, then that is a great idea. I just know that most TCS cat owners don't have tons of money lying around because we try to feed our cats the best food our budgets will allow.
Here's a link to one on amazon. They have others that are much cheaper, but most of them had some huge flaw (like being able to be pulled open from the outside by a racoon or particularly dextrous cat). It seems like this is an average price.

I have plenty of strays in my neighborhood, well before my idiot neighbor get ahold of them. The only one that really "bothers" us isn't a stray, just let out at night... King Arthurs and Morgan La Fays full bred Maine Coon daddy. He has claimed my place as his and visits his son and daughter and my other girls nightly. They "talk" and play from the window. They have a nice visit. So he's not really a bother.
It's more than likely an un neutered male that has claimed his territory and your place just happens to be in it. He views it as his and therefore, your kitty is an intruder. Basically the only thing you can really do is call animal control and have them pick him up or TNR yourself. This will stop the fighting at least. I would do the latter if it were me. Usually animal control will just put him down as shelters and rescues are overrun. Or you can get a big protective dog and let it have your back yard... Stray will take the hint!!
This is a rather horrible situation for your resident!
His own core home territory not only visited by a unfriendly stranger, but even beaten up in his own place...
Till you had found out a good resolution, I would suggest you keep your resident home. Ie, closed doors and windows. Resident inside, stray outside.
Have perhaps a Feliway diffuser on, so Resident recovers and feel harmonic again.
If you are merciful, try to TNR this stray (we will applaude you and say hurrah several times).
The situation will be better than, even if he still would tries to come inside for food and warmth.
With any luck, you can perhaps even foster him, if this is your fancy. :)
or if you arent merciful, call the towns animal patrol, like said before. We dont like it, but we do understand. If it is a must, so it is a must.
(third possiblility is of course, if there is some good TNR-rescoue group around, talk with them and hope they can and want help. A good solution, but here is this IF situation).
Good luck!
I guess that was the main problem. I used to place food outside instead of throwing it in the garbage, but now I've stopped and it seems to work.
Read something similar but using the chip implanted in the cat.
