What an awful thing,I was told by her foster mum that she had been flead and wormed,I got her vet checked and all was well with that. Then  yesterday I noticed blood in her stool,OMG I have never seen anything like it,how scary,so off to the vets we went today and it turns out she has quite severe worms and has probably never been treated.I feel very let down as I was told she had been and she was from a rescue.Anyway wormer given, which she hated and I just hope now that she feels better very soon.

I was so scared I thought with seeing the blood it was something just totally terrible (not that worms isn't).x

AWW Angel.. :rub:. Yeah - the blood is pretty typical for an worm infestation... I am sure the foster did deworm her but she probably didn't get the second dewormer OR was just reinfected. I always recommend a stool check when you adopt a kitten anyway - they usually need two to three de-worming treatments. Don't worry - Angel will be fine :hugs::hugs: So glad you got her in and on a dewormer. Make sure you deworm her again in about 15 to 18 day's. Then wait about two and a half week's and do another stool check. Sometimes it just takes a few dewormings to rid the kitties of these nasty thing's :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I have a sticker on my calender when the next one is due, she must be feeling pretty unwell I know I would if I had a tummy full of worms. Her foster mum said she didn't need doing for another 6 weeks and its been 4 since I had her. The vet said she would require another stool check in about 5-6 weeks so that sounds about right. I have never, ever seen anything like it,there was blood running down her leg as her stool was loose thats what alarmed me most and I have 5 other kittys but I always make sure they are wormed reguarly so that's probably why. I rang up the vets gabbling on about blood and goodness knows what, they must have thought I was mad

Poor kitty.  This is one of the reasons so few feral kittens make it to adulthood; such parasites can be very persistent and ubiquitous.

You really should not wait six week's between dewormings. That won't be effective. UNLESS you are using Profender (a spot on dewormer) that usually work's in one treatment but then I would always give another treatment three week's later. I am sure your vet will give you the correct time frame though and I don't know what dewormer you were given for Angel. Just stick to what your vet tells you. Much luck with your baby Angel!!!! I am sure the vet's are used to getting call's like yours. That is your baby after all - and seeing that blood is very scary :hugs: Hope she feel's better very soon. :) :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Also, make sure she gets treated for tapeworms, which requires a different medication and not treated by the meds for roundworms/hookworms.
