How do I upload an avatar?

This may be a question that has been asked and answered before, but I've been trying to figure this out all morning and I am just shy of being frustrated enough to say forget it. But, I deleted my current avatar and would love to put my new kitty's pic in its place.

 

So, can anyone help me out? This is the photo I'd like placed as my avatar:

I am probably doing something wrong during the upload process, but I'd love any help that can be offered. I want my new handsome man as the face of my avatar. I mean, look at him! Could you blame me?! He he!

Okay, disregard the above post. It looks like I figured it out as soon as I stopped trying!

 

Edited to add: I see that I uploaded the photo, but what is with all the blank space around the photo. Is there a way to fix that? Man, I'm high maintenance today...

The blank space is because the avatar area is square and you uploaded a picture that is a rectangle. smile.gif Try this one:

I always knew I was bad with spacial relations laughing02.gif. It figures it was something I was doing wrong -- squares, rectangles, circles...
