I won't even bore you by typing a lot of nonsense first. I know what's important here -- kitty pictures!

This is my new cat's first photo. Here is my handsome boy:

The picture is not the best quality. Nor does it show off his personality. But, he is still very frightened and is in quarantine in my bedroom. Since he's never spent much time outside of a kennel, I put a wire crate in my room with his litter pan, food, and water. So far, he hasn't ventured outside of it. But, he's been here less than 12 hours and is understandably uncertain and afraid. But, as soon as I place my hand into the crate, he does rub up on it and begin purring. He's such a love! There's no doubt in my mind that he will come around in no time. Until then, however, I can be as patient as he needs me to be.

So, what do you think? I think he's precious, but, I'm biased a bit. And, on the name front, I'm still taking suggestions. But, for now, I'm thinking I really like the name Guinness. We shall see, though...we shall see...

What a handsome boy! It won't be long and he'll be so happy to be home.
I like the name Guinness, though I liked the other names you were thinking about too. I'm sure the right name will become clear soon enough.

Do you know the old belief about the small white patches (sometimes as little as a few hairs) on black cats?

It was believed in medieval times that only a purely black cat could be a witches familiar, so, whenever a black kitten is born, an angel comes down and lightly touches the kitten, leaving a white patch and saving him from service to the devil.

Some people call these white spots or hairs "the angel's touch."

I've heard a variation of that story, too - supposedly every black cat has at least a couple of white hairs to keep him/her from being held for and killed as a witch's familiar.

He's truly a beauty and I'm sure it won't take long for him to become part of the family and make himself at home.   When we brought Tipptoes into the house (she was a stray), after coming out of the carrier she eventually wandered into the dining room and spent almost 2 weeks sitting on a dining room chair watching all the activity around her.  And of course Angel and Tony weren't exactly happy with her -- but once she got off the share she become and "boss" -- Angel is now afraid of her and Tony adores her.  Now Tippy thinks she owns the house.

Look forward to see more pictures of the beautiful new baby.

Congratulations!

Wow!  His little face is shaped sort of like a Havana Brown!

He's a keeper!

Beautiful kitty!  My Chloe girl is a shy one...but with time, she has really come around.  I know your new baby will too!
