I can really use some help because I don't know what is going on with my cat Rosie. Rosie just turned 9 years old and never had any health issue other than a bit overweight (12.7 pounds 6 months ago.) I have been feeding her dry food since she was 4 months old and I give her wet food about once a week as a treat.
We moved into a house from apartment exactly 2 months ago. My cats have always been inside cats and they stay the same. They adopted very well in the new environment.
3 weeks after we moved in I received a pot of poinsettia. I didn't think about it and left it on the table. 2 days later Rosie started throwing up after every meal. It lasted about a week until I realized I had poinsettia. Although I didn't see her eating the plant in person I was pretty sure she ate some of it. I took her to the vet and they gave her penicillin+B6 shot for 3 days. She weighted 12.1 pounds at that time. Blood work showed pancreas level was slight elevated but the vet said he wasn't concerned. Two weeks later the vet gave her a physical exam and he was happy about it. He noticed her eyes were little watery. He said Rose might be recovering from some kind of infection and prescribed her antibiotics.
Rosie's vomiting had been up and down. I noticed she vomited less if I gave her wet food, while she threw more often if she ate wet food. So I fed her wet food for a week and the vomiting finally stopped. However she is continuing losing weight. Now she weights 11 pound 10 oz. Could the weight loss be a result of switching to wet food? I'm worried she's not eating enough and her body is breaking down the muscle.
Also Rosie has lost interest in dry food. She won't eat the dry food even when she's hungry. (I know she's hungry because she eats the wet food if I put it in front of her.)
Despite all that Rosie seems alert. Her activity level stays the same. I want to switch her diet back to dry food but not sure how or if it's the right thing to do.
