My Mom and Step-dad went out of town this weekend and just came home today.  My step-brother has been living at their house so they left him in charge of the 3 cats and took the dog with them.

Well they can't find Pumpkin now that they are home!!  It snowed from like 2pm till just recently.  We didn't get much accumulation wise but it's cold.  Normally their cats only go out for short periods of time and don't stay out long.  My step-bro let him out; so they know he is not in the house.  Pumpkin is not a very big cat.  Or a dominant one.  They've checked his spots and have been looking and checking for him for over 4 hours now.

I'm guessing/praying he took shelter somewhere because no one was around to let him in.  I'm not 100% sure it was today that he was let out either.  My Mom sent me a text asking if it was 65 today and I said no way.  It was 41 when I went to Walmart to grocery shop and 35 and snowing by the time I left.  It was 65 on Saturday....but not today.  He said something about it being 65...

I'm getting mad at my step-bro.  How hard is it to take care of 3 cats for 2 1/2 days!?  His mother's opinion on animal care has been let them out; if they come back they do, if they don't oh well.  Most of my step-siblings seem to have taken this opinion as their own.  But they all know we don't treat our animals that way.  Have a little respect!  Apparently he's been told to leave.  Guess my step-dad has had it finally.

If the roads were safe I'd go up in a bit to check; but it's supposed to ice over tonight.  I'm sure they are exhausted from the driving.

Mom said she put his cat box out on the patio and a heating pad.  I hope she plans to leave it out all night.  Hopefully he will find that and snuggle there.  Poor boy. He's a totally lap baby; loves to curl up in your arms and snuggle.

Please pray Pumpkin comes home safe and sound ASAP...like tonight!

I can't post all of these details on Facebook since one of my step-sisters and other family are on there and it will come back to bite me in the tush.

Lets hope he took shelter somewhere and waits till it gets warmer. so is common enough.

Or possibly someone friendly took him in.

Although there is also the possiblility he happened to be in closed somewhere. Some cellar or so.

So it would be good if someone in charge in your family went around your neigbours, a) asked if the cat was seen, b) ask them to look at all places they could happen to close...

Good luck!   *vibes*

OH dear - Pumpkin, please come home very, very soon. :cross: I am so very sorry and I would be very upset too. I know how upsetting it is when you think you have someone reliable caring for your cat's in your absence and they don't come through for you and the cat's are neglected. :( I had a similar episode last summer with a family member caring for my cat's - although - thank God no cat was missing. We were furious and it was the last straw too. Loads of hugs to you and your mom - this is very sad and I wish for Pumpkin to return NOW :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Maybe since your mom is home now and is putting out his comfy items on the patio, he might return for her. Please keep us posted on Pumpkin and I am sending all of the vibes/prayers I can muster today for Pumpkin's quick return. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thanks guys!  I found out our local SPCA (which is only a few miles from my Mom's house) keeps an updated webpage with pics of all the "found" animals brought in.  My plan was to go up there after DD's appt today if he still hadn't turned up since my Mom had to work.

But I got a text just before 2 this morning that he was home!  Mom found him on the front doorstep, meowing, wet and miserable.  He went right for his food when he came in.  I think Mom was getting up to check for him every few hours or so.  He is completely fine this morning.  Even wanted to go back out.... which he was NOT allowed to do.

As for the rest of it; well we shall see what happens.  I know they told my step-bro to leave.  Now we pray there is follow through on my step-dad's part.  Theres a lot more to the whole thing; this was the last straw.  Mom said he basically said "what's the big deal? It's just a cat."  Now I know that will set most of you off the same way it does for me.  Basically my step-dad told him not everything is all about him and what he wants to do or not.  And that's getting at the heart of the matter.

So now I pray this all works itself out for everyone's best interest; but especially my Mom and Step-dad's.  I can't post those details on Facebook; where I know I have quite a few of our members as friends.

I saw this post too late to add vibes, but am very happy to hear he's back and safe. I'd be ripping about your step-brother's attitude and negligence, too.

Thanks.
We've had issues with the attitude about the cats ever since they married...like 17 years ago.  Nothing outright abusive; just negligent.  Or they'd make comments to hurt me because I've always been sensitive about my furbabies.  I don't even know what else to say anymore because it just seems like it means nothing.  There have been times I've gotten along good with this step-brother; but many rough times too.  With him; I mostly keep my mouth shut.

I am very glad to be reading this update about Pumpkin. PHEW, so happy he found his way home and will be alright. Sorry about the family issues :hugs: I have no tolerance for carelessness when it comes to the furkids. Thank goodness Pumpkin is safe now :heart3: :wavey:
