Why is the acronym DH used so much here?

I see it a lot and I don't see it nearly as much elsewhere.  I'm just curious.

I never see DW (maybe because it's too close to DWI - I don't know).  I'm just curious as to what is the significance of using DH as opposed to "my husband"?  Just shorter?

Maybe this falls into the category of things I don't understand because I'm a guy.  But I'm curious.

Oh whoops.  Wrong word for the title.

Not abbreviation.  Acronym.

Title all fixed.

DH is shorter and there are a lot of married women on the site.  DW is used (Check out the Masters' Chronicles thread), but not as many of us have DWs.

I just find it easier to put I sometimes put hubby as I don't always agree with the "darling" meaning in DH.

It's what I've always used on message boards, I thought it was fairly common

And RuthyB, "D" can stand for many D-words that describe my husband at any given time.

I thought it strange at first too, as I've never seen "DH" or the like used anywhere else but here, lol. Took me a long time to figure out what they meant!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who at first didn't know what it meant..

It's all over my baby board.  But then it is a site geared toward pregnant women; many have husbands.

I like using acronyms because it is shorter; but also I don't like putting ALL my business out everywhere.  Esp on that baby board; I don't share pics or even real names on there.  Here I've made real friendships with several members so it's more about the shorter thing.  But then there are always new members who wouldn't know who I'm referring to; but might assume one thing or another I guess.

Probably because the members here are predominantly female.

Over the river and through the woods...
I first saw "DH" on a wedding board I went to when planning my wedding. More often there you would see "DF" (dear fiance), and it took me a while to figure out what it meant. I spent the first few weeks wondering why everyone was engaged to someone with the initials of DF
. Now, I just use it out of habit although I also use "hubby" almost as much. I don't use his name very often out of respect for his privacy. I doubt he would mind but it's a weird little quirk of mine.

Took me forever to figure out what DH stood for :lol3: I've used it a couple times on here, then just went to hubby or husband or just Rob.

You had me
(LOLing) for real when I read that part.

Probably because the members here are predominantly female.

That would seem VERY likely.

I didn't know what it meant either, so I looked it up on Google. Google is my best friend lol
That is so so true.
