hi...im a new member..not sure if this is the right thread to post but anyway...

i have 2 cats male and female.both persian.the female is 3 years old and the male will turn 1 year old this february...thing is, the female's personality is really aloof around people especially males..Raffy is female and Blue is the male..they're both indoor cats..Raffy got lost for about 3 weeks (she sneaked out of the house) fortunately we found her. Now since we got her back, she hasnt shown any signs of getting into heat yet.Prior to her "lost episode" she was constantly into heat like every other week or so..and during the time that time that she was lost it was raining almost everyday and there was a typhoon. It breaks my heart to imagine her out there in the cold with nothing to eat.She was really thin when we found her after 3 weeks. Now, do you think her outdoor experience could have affected her psychologically?and therefore eliminating her ability to go into heat?would love to hear from you guys :)

Welcome to TCS. :wavey:

How long has it been since you found Raffy? Has she been checked out by a vet since she came back? If she's not going into heat there's a good chance she's pregnant. If you haven't taken her to a vet, you should do so now. The vet will be able to tell you if she's pregnant and if she picked up anything else like worms or fleas while she was out.

I moved your thread to "Cat Health" though I strongly suspect we will be moving it to the Pregnant Cats forum.  If she was constantly in heat before her escape and now doesn't show any signs of it, she is most likely pregnant.  Same advice as GoldyCats, she needs to see a vet to make sure she didn't pick up any parasites or diseases.

You also should consider spaying her as spaying provides protection against diseases like breast and ovary cancer as well as not putting her through the stress of the hormones.

I totally agree with the above. It is probably the reason she sneaked out - she was looking for a male. When they are in heat cats will do almost anything to get out to mate.

Welcome to the site :D !!! AND very happy to hear your cat is back home.

:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: For Raffy.. I also agree that if she was not spayed, then she was in heat, and that is why she escaped outside. To be bred :(. I would take her to the vet asap. Please consider getting Raffy spayed :cross: :vibes::vibes:

Some breeds do have a 'breeding season' and will stop calling over winter. But this often doesn't affect indoor cats. Being 3 years old and not mated, plus in almost constant heat she could have Pyometra or another infection.

Did you mean to say August 2012? If so she's likely pregnant from the local tom. If you indeed meant 2011, she needs a vet check by a feline reproductive specialist. Ask your mentors for advice on where to find one - your breeder will also be able to tell you what her lines calling cycles are typically like.
