Cat sitter DVD trilogy.

I bought it for my 2 cats (one a former feral, the other a shelter rescue)

i figured if they don't like it is just watch the DVD being it features all sorts of animals.

MMy cat from the shelter showed no interest, but my former feral, one who never went near the tv ever even with nature shows on, jumped near the tv and started gently pawing the screen and was so alert and occupied, I put her toy squeaky mouse near her do she actually thought she hunted something.

BBeing she used to hunt birds and mice this DVD made her happy, I suggest buying it for all strays and ferals in your home, especially ones that may hide this will get them to come out!

:clap::clap: THANK YOU !!!!! Wonderful idea :bigthumb: This would be a great video to run in a "safe" room for kitties that need extra stimulation and just even background noise!! :D

Is there any way you can make this a sticky thread so others are able to read it from it not being bumped.

Good idea.  I shall ask a mod if it can be done.

In the tread we others can fill in the different music recommendations too. So we do have them in the same place.

As yours Cat sitter Trilogy is useful for all cats, not just for calming fostered ferales.    :)

Btw, there is no link in the first post.  Just do google.

But harp music for socialization purposes is new to me. I wonder if harpsichord does the same? I think I have a CD of the Goldberg Variations lying around somewhere. They were composed by Bach for the purpose of helping an insomniac nobleman sleep! They do indeed strike me as somewhat boring (unlike Bach's other work) and sleep-inducing!"

I guess this is a useful tip!

A  CD called Baby-Bach is another Bach-tip I saw mentioned somewhere by our forumist CBrew.

(there is a contemporary artist called Baby-Bach, it is NOT he).

SpeakHandsForMe mentioned "Harp for Hope" by Diane Schneider.

Esp our veteran forumist LDG recommends varmly classical Harp-music.

My ferals seem to enjoy it when I sit at my keyboard and play Bach menuets, Beethoven (Moonlight Sonata) , Mozart, Clementi sonatinas, etc. They don't like the songs from the song bank. Too much background instruments.

This is kind of a stretch for "musical", but an expert suggests that you put a bird feeder somewhere the cat can see (without attacking the birds). It's supposed to be the equivalent of TV to a human. I'm sure hearing the birds will get a cat to perk up. Maybe a toy bird will be very effective at that point, especially getting the "more to love" kitties exercising.

I tried the DVDs, didn't work for Ritz.

But I moved recently, and Ritz can see up close and personal many birds, squirrels and Charlie the Chipmunk.

Ritz has been wanting to play more, I think in part because the weather is getting cooler and in part to release some of her pent up agression:  I see but canot eat/touch the bird, squirrel, chipmunk.  (There are foxes and deer near by but I haven't seen them on my lawn.)

I like to use the Bach cello suites.  Best recordings are by Yo-Yo Ma.
