Ok, time to share, I guess...

Lament for a Drama Queen

Little cat
sweet little cat

who wraps herself around my feet
who nestles in my arm
who brings me furry prezzies
\t
who torments her sedate sister
leaps upon her ancient brother!

who performs daring aerobatics
crash lands on the mantelpiece
scales the draperies
who races headlong for the wall
slams on the brakes
skids on her -- um -- derriere?
\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
little perky black person
bib, gloves, garters in place,
immaculate

little Drama Queen

little lovely person
who wraps herself around my soul

and then vanishes.

Ten months did you spend
twining yourself among my heartstrings
that hang now in tatters...

where do you cavort these days, little Sam?

Oh my little Samantha

Fran, what a lovely tribute to your sweet little Samantha.

(I'm sure she's cavorting at the Rainbow Bridge, watching you and waiting for the time when you will meet again.

I usually don't browse in here cause I don't have a rhyming bone in my body but that was so beautiful! What a wonderful tribute!

Thanks. She was special.

Not all that long ago, I, too, would have said I didn't "have a rhyming bone in my body" (what a neat way of putting it). Never really had much use for poetry. Then a series of events came along that provoked strong emotion of one type or another, and for a while it seemed every time I turned around there was another poem demanding expression. Life has calmed down lately, and so has the poetry. It was fun, sort of, but I think I'll take the calmer life, thanks. There are a couple of other cat ones. I should have a look at them and see if they're fit for public consumption.
