I am moving in three days and so not prepared! Everything started off well... at the beginning of December I gave my notice here and started packing, I got a good start on it, packed away everything that I didn't need immediately and decided that I would pack a little bit each day so that I wouldn't be scrambling to get it done at the last minute. That lasted about a week.

I work in retail so December is always a heavy month for us - everyone is working a ton and while we're working we're so busy that by the time we get home we're just exhausted. I was working 6 days a week, mostly full shifts, but by the time I got home, walked the dogs, ate, fed everyone and played with the cat I just wanted to relax or pass out in bed for the night. Needless to say, that was very counter productive for packing.

The last week of December I decided to get Mike over here to help me, have him stay over for a few days and we'd just power pack. The first day was good, we got quite a bit done in the afternoon and then decided to take a little break... it turned into a long one and we were basically done for the night. The next day I woke up with the worst cold and the biggest headache imaginable. Mike spent the next two days taking care of me and when I was finally to the point where I could stay out of bed for more than 10 minutes I had to go to my parents house for Christmas with my sisters and their families. I came home the next day for work, only to have to go back the day after for my Dad's birthday/New Years Eve.

This week I invited Mike over again to help me pack and stay for a few days, again, we got a good start during the afternoon of the first day and then ended up finishing up the last season of Sons Of Anarchy at night. He woke up the next day very sick - he felt like he was going to throw up, headache, fever, sore throat, congested... it lasted for two days and between work and taking care of him, I was exhausted. I took him home today because I had to work late tonight and my mom is coming up for the weekend tomorrow.

This week I was supposed to have Monday off, a short shift Tuesday morning, a short shift Wednesday night, Thursday off, a regular shift tonight, be on call for tomorrow from 6am until 2pm and then work a short shift Sunday morning. The plan was that Mike was coming over on Monday and would stay until Wednesday night (the paragraph above), then my mother would come up on Thursday and help me pack, I'd work the weekend and the movers would come in on Monday. I go into work on Tuesday and see that my shift was changed to a full one - no big deal, I still had Wednesday and Thursday. I'm sound asleep in bed on Wednesday morning when my boss calls me and asks where I am, says that I'm supposed to be at work. I told her that I had checked the schedule the night before in the book that we have by the cash registers (we have to get signed out at the end of our shift, so we keep a schedule there) and I wasn't supposed to be in until 5pm. Apparently the schedule had been changed, no one told me that I was working in the morning instead and no one had bothered to put the new schedule in the book - only on the bulletin board at work. I frantically got dressed and got to work. First thing I did was check the schedule upstairs - sure enough, they scheduled me for Thursday without asking me (it's supposed to be one of my guaranteed days off). I talked to my boss and explained my predicament - that I had people coming to help me finish packing so if she wanted me to work on Thursday then I absolutely cannot be on call for Saturday and I would need my shift on Sunday switched. Thankfully, she agreed to that.

I called up my mother and explained everything to her, so now she's coming here tomorrow and staying for the weekend. We have two full days to pack and the movers will be here Monday morning at 10 am. I know that we can get everything done, but I'm still panicking. I don't have to actually be out of this apartment completely until the end of the month, but I'd like to have everything done by the end of this next week so I don't have anything to worry about. I just keep thinking of how much still has to be done and start stressing.

Any vibes that everything goes smoothly, we get everything packed up and that I don't maim my mother by the end of it all are appreciated!

:vibes::vibes::vibes: that you and your mom manage to get everything packed and ready to go by Monday morning! Maybe being so close to the deadline now will be just the impetus you need to take matters in hand and get it all done.

It all went great! I just got my internet back today so I am finally able to update.

We were packed in time and yet my mom still insisted that we get up at 6 am on moving day (Monday) to finish packing. There was nothing left to pack, so we just puttered around making sure that everything was alright. The movers came at 10 and got everything loaded up, dropped some stuff off at Goodwill and brought everything here in just under 5 hours. We were able to unpack quite a bit on Monday, and my parents came over today as well to help me unpack some more, put up some shelves, organize, etc. I still have a bit more to unpack and some things that I can't do until I get another piece of furniture, but it's all coming together nicely. I'll post pictures in a few days once everything is done!
