On dec. 28th, I had to have my precious boy Heathcliff put down. He had been going downhill for a couple of months, he was 17 years old, and I thought it was just age. The last month or so I noticed that he was drinking and peeing a lot more, so I finally brought him to the vet. I had a feeling in my heart that he would not be coming back home with me. I was right. The vet said his kidneys were shutting down. I knew he was getting cataracts, but they were worse then I thought. He was very dehydrated because of the kidneys. I never suspected it because he was drinking so much.

I miss him so much, I keep looking for him, expecting to see him. I got him when he was 6 wks old. He was my best friend. My daughter is ok, she was never very attached to him. He was my boy through and through. He wouldn't cuddle with anyone but me..... Shadow is completely lost. He won't come sleep with me because that was where Heathcliff slept. He just has a very sad look in his eyes. I gave him the shirt I was wearing when I brought Heathcliff in, he lays on it for hours at a time...... Painter isn't as bad. She looks for him once in a while, but we'd only had her for two years and she never really got close with him. Heathcliff and Shadow were like brothers.

I miss you my boy, I love you!!!!

My condolences to you and Shadow. Seventeen years is a long time to share your lives, so it's no wonder that you miss him so much. RIP, Heathcliff,

It's a shocker, I had to put my 16 year old cat down this past Tuesday.  What a void she left.  I posted on here a few days ago and it helped to share with other cat fans.  I know exactly how you feel, hang in there.  Heathcliff is eating cat treats and chasing catnip toys with Bitty...

I'm very sorry about your Heathcliff.  I am sure you and Shadow feel very lost without him. The fact that he lived such a nice long life is because the love and care he received from you.

Thank you so much everyone. I knew it would be hard when the day came, but it's so much harder then I expected. I keep expecting him to come around the corner, or come curl up with me at night......
