I am new to the forum here, and I am an animal lover. :)

I lost my little hero a few months back. I had him since the day he was born. I had to revive him cause his mom accidentally suffocated him. He was almost 7 years old when his life was taken by a coyote. The pain I felt for his loss was like none other I have ever felt before. I still miss him everyday. Good bye dear Squirt, please be at peace where ever you are.

This Christmas, my boyfriend and I got a new kitten. I felt my wounds were healed enough to allow another member to the family. She is very adorable. I am a little concerned about her health, as she was being fed whole raw chicken until we got her. We have a vet apt for this Wednesday. She is a little Devil!! Her personality is amazing. I am looking forward to her growing old with us. However, she will not be allowed outside. The thought of losing her to another Coyote is unbearable! I am very happy to have her as apart of our family. Though, we have not named her yet!! Please feel free to post suggestions. He wants to call her Marbles, because she is a "marbled" Bengal. I think that's to foo foo. We have been thinking of Pepper as well. What do you think?

Welcome to TCS!

Your Bengal baby is so cute!
I feed raw chicken and meat to my kitties and their health seems to benefit more from it than when I gave them processed food.

Sorry for the loss of Squirt. He was a beautiful cat.

She looks like a little character.  And that picture belongs in the LOLcat files!

Oh, she is a beauty!!!:clap::clap::clap: Congratulations!
Whole raw meats - chicken, rabbit, mice - yep, mice! are wonderful, nutritionally balanced diets, and SO much better IMHO than any diet available in the market!:clap::clap: I would so not transition her to commercial - I would definitely keep her on raw :bigthumb: Not necessarily whole prey (I just don't have the stomach for it LOL) , but there are different ways to do it....
I am now on day 11 of transitioning my cats from a commercial diet (kibbles and wet) to raw, and the health benefits, in that SHORT period of time have been absolutely unbelievable - especially for my Bugsy, who has a lot of issues..... For example: On a regular diet, he had 1yr and 2 months of diarrhea and soft poop after a dose of antibiotics (he has IBD)......... (and I tried every treatment and diet on the book - spent thousands on vet bills.... several emergencies :( ) and after only EIGHT days on raw...... he is completely normal! :thud:

So.... I would not be worried about this baby not being healthy because she is eating a whole prey diet - instead, I would be extremely glad she is doing so :bigthumb:

I am sorry for the loss of your baby :hugs:

We also understand that when the time is right, you honor the love that you shared with Squirt by opening your heart and home to another cat. :)

Whatever name you choose for your wild child, I am sure that it will suit her. She is gorgeous.

Hi and welcome to TCS
.

First of all, I am very very sorry for the loss of your previous cat. However, congratulations on your new marble Bengal.

I am the proud care taker of: two domestic short hair, one domestic long hair, and one non-standard F3 Savannah. I feed my Savannah commercial dry food and one whole live piece of prey a day. The commercial dry I use is Evo Chicken and Turkey. The live whole prey he gets is one mouse a day. My cat does fine on both foods. A word to the wise, or the way I learned, which was the hard way, if your going to feed dry make sure it is one that is grain free. The same goes for the wet food.

If your going to feed mainly raw meats (Chicken, Turkey, etc), you will need to add a vitamin supplement such as Wild Trax (http://www.wildtraxsupply.com/). If your not going to feed bone in raw ( chicken leg quarters and such), you will need to add a calcium supplement, such as this: http://www.completenaturalnutrition.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=74 . Please note, if you feed an appropriate amount of commercial food (In my humble opinion, thirty or so percent) you do not need the supplements, listed above. Also, if you want to feed raw meat, please use dark meat, like chicken legs and thighs as well.

Is your Bengal an F5? Also, can I ask what breeder you got him from? He is very handsome. I am sorry, but I have no suggestions for naming him

I have been feeding raw meat to my cats, I guess i forgot to mention! I am not a fan of processed foods. My main concern is that they just tossed a whole de-thawed chicken in with them, Nothing else. I go to a local pet shop that gets raw diets from local business who prepare the raw meat with the supplements. My old cat Squirt did great on the raw, and this girl loves it as well. Right now, we are using "Rad Cat" raw diet. We are looking into making our own, but until we understand the process/nutrients we are leaving it up to people who know. :)

I will have to look up the name of the breeder, as I am not sure they are listed as breeders. The parents were papered, but this was our first time buying from a "breeder" of cats. We were not initially looking to get a bengal, but we saw her and fell in love.

She has brought back a lot of joy into our lives!

Thanks everyone!

Yes we decided on Pepper. It fits her spicy attitude! We did bring her to the vet, and she is 100% healthy! The stinky breath is from her teething, and shouldn't last too long. I am very happy to have this little monster around! And so far, Rad Cat is my favorite (and hers too) as far as raw food diet is concerned. Besides making your own of course. :)
