Last night I did all my normal chores before sitting down. Around half 8 I thought that I hadn't seen Angel for a while (my new kitten-13 weeks old) she has settled in really well and is so loving and every night she is in the living room playing with her mouse or sitting on my knee giving me a cuddle. The weather last night (and still is) is horrendous, windy, rainy, cold.Anyway I sat there watching tv and I suddenly glanced out the back window and OMG Angel was sitting on the windowsill OUTSIDE!!!I could see her crying so I ran to the back door and she came running in,she was muddy, wet through and cold
I dried her off and gave her so many cuddles, she never left me all night and slept on my pillow, this morning she seems absolutely fine. She must have just slipped out the door when I went outside to do the rabbits and I din't notice, she is so small compared to my other cats and so fast. She is scared of the door now which isn't a bad thing I suppose but I just can't believe it,I feel so bad.x

Poor Angel! Thank goodness you saw her when you did, Ruthy. I'm glad she's OK and that she's a little nervous about that door!

The good thing is you now know she knows where her home is and will come back to it. It's so good you saw her when you did and being nervous of the door is a good thing.

I still say I need to invent some sort of a cat tag that sets off an alarm if the cat goes out a door.

They do,she has been her normal self today and very loving so I don't think she is too affected by her ordeal,I am more,I keep hugging her and saying sorry.I don't think she was out there long but I need to get her booked in and have her spayed as soon as she is 5 months as that is the earliest I can find a vet in my area to spay her.I kept thinking what if she has been pounced upon by some nasty big tom cat but our garden is pretty enclosed and I don't see a lot of cats around.x

It happens to the best of us, I promise.  When you have a cat that darts out the door when it is open, there is little you can do.  I am just glad you saw her and got her inside!  My mom actually did this same thing with her new cat a few weeks ago...and I can't count the number of times I have been out at 10pm with a flashlight looking for Blue.  He was front and back declawed when we got him, so when he does manage to sneak out, I have to search until I find him.  He has no protection!  :(  It is not often, though, thank God!  Once a year...maybe less now that he is old.

Glad Angel is safe!

It happens. Jamie has managed to sneak out a couple of times, although he has to go through two doors front and back to get outside. Miezi slipped out of our neighbor's house early Saturday morning, also despite two doors, and was out in all the horrible weather and with fireworks being set off New Year's Eve.

It's a good thing you saw her when you did. Hopefully she's now going to associate doors with being cold and wet and will avoid them like the plague.
