How is our sweet May? How is the wound, how is she doing, and how is momma doing?

Thank you so much for your kind words.... :hugs: :touch: You just warmed my heart :heart3:

:hugs:
PS: I hope you DO get to visit Brazil one day.... it is beautiful..... I go once a year.... I love it there.... I've been here for 15 1/2 years, so now this is my home..... But yes, I do consider myself lucky 2-fold..... For being from there, and now, for living here - I have the best of both Worlds  I will never stop being Brasilian..... That is in my soul :heart3:
I do love it here though, and I am so used to live here......

I would love to go to Russia one day - My mom has been there a couple of times and she LOVED it - aside from the language barrier :lol3: she said it is amazing!

Thank you Carolina!

No, I'm not disappearing, it is now the year end in accounts 2011 for the company I work for, and it takes just a bit more time from me attending the issue.

Apart from that - we have rains all the time and no electricity more then usual, so I cannot use my computer most of the time.

Our biggest power cut recently was for more than 48 hours!!!  And our generator is quite small and doesn't support us all the time.

May is so very well!!!  Not much to say from my last posts apart from that her wound is closing rapidly and I can just see next week there will be no wound at all!

Another good news is my vet has replied and said that they are excited and would love to use CS in complicated cases based on what May's recovery has been.

I straight away answered and offered to supply it urgently if need be, because we keep it in stock now (not wanting to be short of it).

Just perhaps a last update on open wound on May - it is almost closed.  I can not even do a flush anymore - it is so tiny.

I expect the whole area of the skin over the wound to be in about two to three days or so.  At the moment the area of the opening is so minute - it doesn't even worth mentioning - about 2 x 2mm all in all!

After the wound is closed - it will now take some time for the damaged muscle to re-generate to the end I think if it has not done so already.

Still I apply CS to her remaining (should I call it 'scratch'?) soaking cotton wool in it and just holding it there for as long as May will sit on my lap.  And also I just rub that cotton wool around the area where the wound was.

May now walks most of the time without limp, but when she runs and jumps - I can not detect any limp at all.

Being first kitty in my family and the eldest - she now resumed disciplining others if need be.  All of them are so very happy to have her back as their play-mate!!!

Horay!!!
Bye bye to the wound!!!  It is finally all closed now!

Just a little scab where the small remaining wound was!

Happy and healthy May (thank you to CS and Carolina who encouraged me to use it!!!
)

Today the nice lady came to deliver me my next order of CS (stronger one this time - I'm using it for myself and giving it to my mom and sister).

She told me that she is treating with it her own cat's eye and even gives it to the kitty a tiny bit internally and it helps.

Wow - that was such amazing news to me!  Perhaps a venture for future problems...

All in all - May is well all the way around, active and affectionate as ever, even more than ever!!!  She likes me stroking her leg gently now and it is not hot any longer.  I still apply CS once a day to her scab (a wet cotton wool with CS and hold it there for something short of 5 minutes).

I got another email from my vet and she said that they will now use CS for even routine operations to free them from the risk of bacteria!!!  Yay!!!

No sick cats at the moment and hopefully ever!!!

Will pop into this section with MINOR problems if so.

Here is the first picture I took of May's wound (I hadn't have a heart to take pictures of her whilst she was so sick - I thought it's a bad thing to do).

Before (just in words) that whole shaved area was a raw wound (can you believe it?!!), including the back of her leg (under her).  Now there is hardly a scar on the that shaved area as you can see.

That small now hole going into the muscles (where the arrow is - you can't really see the hole) was not the only one.   The whole lot of skin of that shaved area was falling apart to start with because of infection, and even after a month from when the oozing pus was stopped - the skin was apart from the muscle all around.  That closed up miraculously just about 3 days from start of flushing with CS!

And now that the wound is closed entirely - my only concern is for her muscle to be able to re-generate most of the lost tissues, so that she can use her leg without any discomfort.  (She doesn't jump high now - as can be expected, but she also doesn't limp when walking, and I can't see any disability at all when she is running, jumping around and playing.)  But she is doing very well indeed!  She just needs to exercise her leg more now...
and she sure does!

Will  try get a picture of May's recovered leg and post it in this thread as well.  Just hope she lets me take it - she is sort of camera-shy if up-close.

And I will sure be around, and...

My next post(s) I'm preparing will be perhaps in the picture section or any other appropriate section.  Today got some funny photos of couple of my kitties playing that I'd love to share with your guys.....

Can't post old pictures all the time, LOL!

Lots of Love & Light to everyone,

Nadia

Oh, I'm still here, I was just reading, but haven't posted anything as yet.

May is very well now.  No scar left, all covered with fur now.

She is in good condition and very playful, but she doesn't go out of the property anymore.  Perhaps this leg doesn't let her jump high on a wall.

She runs, plays a lot, but sometimes after sleep she would limp a bit one or two steps, like being stiff.

Considering that a lot of muscle was taken out - she is doing great.

Here are her current pictures:

You can see the side where the wound was.

May is reading newspapers in a car

May is being her naughty self:

It makes me so sad to see anything about colloidal silver posted here. It is a complete and total fraud and I know many lovely animals have been lost by well meaning people who are looking for a simple solution to difficult problems.

There is a mountain of evidence that colloidal silver has no medical usefulness. Take heed and don't let the promoters of this quackery cost the life of another cat.

Please.

Sorry, Nadia - I got caught off-guard by that completely inappropriate comment from someone I'd have to guess didn't read the thread at all. :lol3:

I actually did an extended research on it.

I found that all the positive comeback on SC based on a lot of facts, yet all the negative has no proof behind it.

I'm not easy to fall for promotions, but this one does work.  Even our vets accepted and will be using it.

Silver was used from ancient times before antibiotics were known.

Holistic remedies are just fine for persons who are treating themselves. But, you cat does not have the choice to make an appointment with the vet and get the correct medicine or treatment. So, when a worthless remedy like colloidal silver (which I am sure you all know is illegal to be offered for sale to treat feline diseases of any kind) is given to the cat, it is not the same as a person sho makes the choice for himself. Nothing in this thread changes my view of this and i am sure no one has a licensed vet who has ever prescribed colloidal silver for anything. It would be illegal for a vet to do so.

You clearly didn't read the thread. The OP lives in Zimbabwe, and you'll note that heaps of antibiotics and several surgeries did not heal May's wound:

Thank you so much Carolina!

At last I hear that someone has positive information about this and I'm encouraged by what you said.
Our vets said that CS can be used, but they never used it themselves on animals and I was hesitant to experiment. I only want a sure thing.
I'm in the process of getting Colloidal Silver now.
Hope it'll help my May.

Her wound is really large and deep. It was left open after drain taken out.
She had two operations by now and major infection (lots of pus) is over, but I wish the hole on her leg would start healing.
We are at Vets almost every day for treatments for over a month.
Hope that CS will help it heal.

PS: your website is beautiful.

Thank you very much Carolina and Violet.
This is true that we are still going to vets everyday by now. May got hurt and had her first operation on 28-11-2011. So, it's more than a month now.
I would not use anything on my cats without vets' approval.

With antibiotics it is very tricky. She's been on four types of antibiotics by now but these antibiotics are the ones that are commonly used on cats by our vets without drastic damage to kidneys, liver and other organs. I mentioned about taking culture of the pus to find the right antibiotic to start with, but they told me that they had a cat earlier this year and they did just that and the antibiotic to kill that bacteria was very strong and wound eventually had healed after infection, but the cat died at the end from kidneys failure. We decided to go carefully about drugs and it is expected that wound takes time to heal. I also give her sometimes probiotic yogurt.

Vets also said that the infection May has is the worst kind that you get from scavenger dogs' mouths and it's very stubborn infection; and nowadays not only humans, but even animals have developed resistance to antibiotics. They will not close the hole in her leg, or cover it up. They resumed flushing the wound with antiseptics.

Of course I can't use CS for flushing of inside the wound vets said, but daub it all around on the outside carefully not to over-use it.

I'm not yet using CS, but in the process of trying to get it locally.

This is the first time I hear that CS is effective only against some of the bacteria. And therefore I'm worried. I read on a web that it actually kills all or great majority of bacteria types and it can not affect organs and if used not for very long - it has no side-effects and does not affect immune system. But once again that's it is good to hear from people with experience using it.

Although May's immunity is good, but with all this troubles I believe her body is a lot weaker now.

I just want that wound to heal quicker, so that she can go off drugs all together.
Conventional treatments did not work. Flushing the wound with colloidal silver did. I find your comment that the use of CS is "quackery" to be completely inappropriate in a thread like this where conventional medicine did not work, and after the use of CS, the wound has completely healed.

I am so glad that the cat recovered. Nothing makes me happier than a healthy cat. But, anecdotal evidence is meaningless in animal recovery stories because cats are extremely durable creatures and can overcome insurmountable odds with or without colloidal silver.

My comment is not only appropriate, but necessary so that people who do not know the tortured background of colloidal silver do not try this substance instead of getting kitty the real medicine she needs. I could post endless warnings by veterinarians, the FDA, the AMVA, the NIH or others discrediting the claims of promoters of colloidal silver. And, after a competent vet has been consulted and his advice followed, I'd be happy to shake a snakeskin over the cats litter box if someone thought that would work. But, we are not all as inquisitive as we need to be and the cats are in our custody. They are not ours to do with what we want. We are in a relationship of trust. And encouraging people along the lines of colloidal silver could lead them to violate that trust and is what is inappropriate.

Fair enough. But warning other people to first consult their vets is one thing. But your first post:

Does not appear to take into consideration that the OP DID consult the vet: two surgeries were performed, at least four antibiotics used. The vet was out of bullets, so to speak.

So to join this thread, AFTER the cat had completely recovered with the use of CS, and to talk about how sad the use of CS is, and to claim that it has "no medical usefulness," and to say "Take heed and don't let the promoters of this quackery cost the life of another cat," seem rather out of place. The cat is not only not dead from the use of CS, she is completely recovered. Warning others to consult with their vets before doing their own research on the use of CS and providing your opinion on it is one thing. But to make out-of-place blanket statements completely out-of-context with the thread is another.
