My job is a service job, so yes. I worked. But don't have to the next two days. Our business slows down in the winter. I save my Christmas money for the cats, so they will eat during this time.

I had last Monday and Tuesday off, but then had to work last Wednesday-Friday. I also had today off. I could have taken the 3 days off last week using vacation days, but I prefer to use my vacation days in the summer

No, I've been on vacation since Christmas Eve. I return to work tomorrow.  I spent the time doing a few minor home improvement projects and FINALLY taking a couple of days to just relax, read & watch TV (I've always said I'd do that for many years; this is the first time I really allowed myself a couple of truly relaxing, lazy days).

Yep if you count that I'm a stay-at-home-mom.

DH had to work Christmas Eve (his job is normally Monday to Friday) but that gave him some extra overtime.  He had a 3 day weekend this weekend though.  We have all really enjoyed having him around!!

sorta I'm a teacher so I have been off since the 22nd but since I also play music professionally I had some gigs for the holiday season and some private lessons as well. So it was mostly a vacation.

Not really. As a teacher, I've had off, but there's still a lot of stuff to prepare, so I've been doing a little bit here and there. DH (registered nurse) had Christmas off, but had to work New Year's Eve and Day.

Over the river and through the woods...
When I used to work as a waitress, during college and a few years after that, I always requested to close Christmas Eve. There were 4 of us that had been there forever and we all worked that on Christmas Eve. We would all bring goodies and have a mini party. We were usually very slow but the few travelers that did come in tipped VERY well! We did close early (9:00pm) so I still had time to get home and go to midnight mass with my family.

The only time the restaurant was open on Christmas Day was when a co-worker was in jail on work release. The district offices allowed them to be open for a few hour so he could spend time with his family and have an actual Christmas dinner.

Now that I'm working for a government contract I get all federal holiday's off, so since Christmas and New Years fell on a Sunday I got two 3 day weekends in a row. I still had to work Tuesday-Friday last week though (I'm taking today off because I'm sick). Every year I swear I'm going to save my vacation time and take the week between Christmas and New Years off, but every year I can't due to doctor's appts, snow and just being lazy
 .

I feel for people that have to work on Christmas.

I had last Monday and yesterday off. I always get weekends off. The rest of the holiday season though I was backing up everyone else who had it off!

I've been a planner now for almost 12 years and I'm still not used to having off work for holidays. I used to work in a paper plant (International Paper, to be exact) and it was horrid. We had Christmas Eve (although if we were on day shift, we had to work until 3:00 in the afternoon on Christmas Eve Day) and Christmas off work. And Labor Day. That was it. If our days off fell on the holidays, that was great. If not...we worked. And that was that. I'll never forget the time that I had taken a voluntary lay-off for two months because work was slow. They called me back to work and my first day back was on Memorial Day. I hated that place. Between the seven-day rotating shifts and only having one weekend off work a month, it really took a toll on employees. I was never so glad to get out of a place as I was that one.

I'm working for local government in the planning department now and we have off work for all holidays now. I'm still not used to that. I had taken a vacation day the Friday before Christmas and my last Personal Day of the year on the Friday before New Year's. And since the holidays fell on a Sunday, we had both Mondays off work. So I had two four-day weekends in a row. It was wonderful.

I can understand people who work in the health care fields having to work holidays. But honestly, stores and restaurants that remain open on holidays like Christmas? I don't understand that at all. I know several people who work in retail and they had to give up part of their Thanksgiving because the store had to open. In my opinion, that's wrong. And sad.

I'm a stay-at-home mom so holidays mean LOTS more work. When we have company over the holidays, celebrating Christmas is like throwing a 2-week party! The toughest part is making sure there's food - keeping up with all the meals, drinks, and snacks for everyone everyday. The laundry and housekeeping and other routine chores don't stop, either, so it's a crazy busy time, but overall pretty fun.

I was off my full time job from 12/23 until today, except we were open last Wednesday, so I went in to avoid having to use PTO. I also work retail part time, though, so I worked that job the day before Christmas Eve and two days over this past weekend. My shifts there are usually only 4-6 hours, so it's not like a full day.
