Good morning!

Today's question: When will you take down your Christmas decorations?

It's been a tradition in our family to take down all of our Christmas decorations on New Year's Day. Outside lights and such will be taken down as soon as the weather is decent enough to be outside for any length of time, but Rick is pretty good about getting everything down as soon as he can.

I rather look forward to getthing the decorations down and returning the house to normal. Our house is small, so the tree takes up a lot of room in the living room. (The girls really did a number on our Christmas tree this year; I think this will be the tree's last year. It's probably 30 years old, though, so it's OK. But I'll miss it anyway.)

I will continue to use our holiday dishes (Pfaltzgraff Winterberry) until late February or early March and then I'll put them away, too.

I've been wanting them down since Boxing Day!
Dana said he'll take them all down this weekend though.

I took all the decorations off of the tree yesterday. I'd usually leave the tree decorated until the first week of January, but as this was the first Christmas with Riley, the tree was a mess pretty early on. The light will come down in January from the windows. Then I have a bunch of snowmen decorations which will stay up longer, probably until the end of January since they're not specifically Christmas.

I took my tree and decorations down on the 27th. I started taking the stuff off the tree and decided to put away all the decorations.

Mine's already down.. took it down Monday as I was off and bored, lol. I just gotta bring the stuff to my parent's this weekend. My tree's only 2 foot, so I'd just take it over as it is, decorated and all, lol

Usually we put everything away at the very end of December - like today or tomorrow. We leave the outdoor lighting and decorations up for about a week into the New Year. I love the outside Christmas decorations and still enjoy seeing them well into the New Year.:wavey:

The decorations and tree usually come down the 2nd or 3rd, but definitely before the 6th. We don't bother with outdoor decorations.

Not before Little Christmas.  But since that falls on DD's birthday we might have to change that.  Usually I wait till mid January and don't rush about it.  But now with an early January birthday; well it'd kind of much to be putting up birthday decorations on top of the Christmas ones ya know?

Depends on how I feel
I had a chiropractor appointment today, so I got the tree and decorations put away before I saw her.  Sometimes I'll wait until Jan.6th.  All depends on my mood, but I do like getting the house back in order.  I have the lights in windows and mantle, tho---I'll leave them until the middle of January, then switch to Valentine's Day lights

I wait until January 6. I tend to leave our wreath up a little longer, as I like to see a little greenery during the winter months!

I usually leave mine up until mid-January; but I've had the darned thing up since Thanksgiving (we had our family Christmas 2 days after that, so I had to put it up early). I'm getting sick of seeing it--until I turn the lights on at night; and wonder how I can ever take it down, as it's so pretty! I have Monday off, but I hate to spend my last vacation day de-Xmasing.

I do always leave up some wintery greenery and/or snowman decorations until early February; then's it's Valentine's Day stuff.

No decorations up. Since my cats don't care. One string of bubble lights for warmth is up until spring. I hate the thought of unpacking and packing it all up. Just the bubble lights. That is easy.

I didn't put any up this year. Last year I had the tree up after thanksgiving and took it down on new years I believe.

Over the river and through the woods...
I have to leave the everything up until at least Jan 6th but since the tree didn't go up until Dec. 23 it will probably stay up longer than that. I'll take everything down when I get tired of it. It was minimal decorating inside this year so it shouldn't take long, but I love the warm glow of the tree at night. The outdoor decorations (and there are a LOT of them, thanks to DH) will depend on the weather and DH's mood. In 2010 we didn't get them down and put away until March...but we had 3 ft of snow dumped on them in January so it's understandable. As the snow melted, we found deer after deer...all laying on their sides. It looked like a Christmas hunting spree. But, they all worked the next year!

On a side note, when I lived in Guam (a very Catholic island), they had a very nice tradition on Jan 6th. For people who don't know, this is the Epiphany, or Three Kings Day. It's a holy day to celebrate when the 3 kings came to visit Jesus and give their gifts. Anyway, on that day the children go from door to door with bags of goodies (cookies and chocolates and other homemade stuff) and give them to everyone in the village. Imagine my surprise the first time I opened my door and saw about 20 kids (a few even dressed as kings) giving me a bag of goodies. I was amazed, but I think it was such a sweet tradition.
