Hi
I have 3 cats. One tom (buddy), and 2 females (mother and daughter). All was fine till I moved last year. Where as before the Tom had always been an outdoor cat, he now won't go out (lots of other toms in the area).
In the last year both Queens got pregnant and had litters. The kittens have been re homed and now I'm back to 3 (have been for 3 months). The girls were both spayed (Buddy was already). Since then the mother cat barely comes in. She hisses at Buddy and is terrified of him. He constantly chases her and now sits guarding the cat flap. I'm not sure who is instigating it but she seems scared of him. I have tried everything. Feeding them separately, giving her space, installing Feliway plugins and so on.
Now I am losing her and she won't come in. A neighbour also seems to be pinching her off me although I have asked them not to let them in and feed her but they do anyway. They have a cat and she gets on with him so she doesnt have a problem with other cats.
The tom occasionally does it to the other queen also but they can get on. She is the youngest and was born in the house with him there.
I am now considering re homing him as it has got so stressful. I don't want to loose my other two and I don't think its good for him not going out the house.
Please help...
Vicki

. I hope you find many great tips/suggestions here as there is much information and knowledgeable people to assist you. IS Buddy neutered? The Tom cat..... I think you said he was now. The other two, the mother and daughter both are spayed now too. Was that very recently? She may be just telling Buddy to stay away now. Her hormones are changing due to her spay and this could take a few week's for her to re-adjust to feeling more normal. If Buddy was just neutered also, then he need's time for those hormones to dissipate as well. Can you, phsically (pick up) the mother cat and bring her into the house and keep her in a room with all of her necessities during her recovery from her spay along with her daughter. This might work better and then Buddy can't guard the flap. I would just make then all indoor only cat's and start over by separating the girl's to one room inside the house for a couple of week's. Then basically, start introduction's all over again, once they are all recovered from their surgeries. Since they were breeding - it could take awhile for them to realize that there will be no more breeding and no more stress from those hormones. Hopefully other's will chime in as well with some great suggestions for you too
