I've always used PAWSAFE but PetSmart no longer sells it. Found it on Amazon. I have also used Greenworks but can't find it in the stores near my new home in Kentucky. In fact I can't find many green products here.

I used to use the Swiffer products. I loved them. I had them all, including the steam mop which uses the Swiffer wet pads.

I discovered, through a lot of association, that Artie always had a few 'off' days after I washed the floors.

I swear it was the Swiffer products.

I have since switched to a Bissell Symphony steamer. I got the regular one. It also has a vacuum element so you can vacuum up any junk as you steam. They also sell a Pet Version of it. I do not know the difference in them.

I use just plain water. They supply 2 washable pads for it. I just throw those in the washer with bleach.

As a matter of fact, I used it this afternoon. It dries really fast, and I do not have to worry about 'little paw prints' or wet paws walking though the situated area, or confining Artie to a bedroom.

While it is a bit hard to push; I wish it had an automatic driver
, it does a good job.

I use the Method Squirt & Mop All Purpose Floor in the lemon and ginger scent. I dilute it a lot, even though it says it's non-toxic and use it sparingly. I haven't had a problem yet, but I try to clean my tile flooring with some dish soap diluted with water before resorting to the floor cleaner. I tried to use vinegar, but neither I nor my cats could stand the smell. They refused to get anywhere near the floors for days even after I wet mopped with water a few times over. They seem to have much fewer issues with the Method cleaner though.

I am slowly changing over to the Method products for cleaning. I use the mint bathroom cleaners. It is a bit strong for my asthma, but, I feel they are one of the safest out there.

I am so glad to see you feel the same about the vinegar! I tried it, and cannot use it at all. The arena is too strong!

The Method BR cleaner is a nice smell, non-toxic (?), so I feel much better using it. It does not seem to bother either one of us. It is a nice clean smell. For deeper cleaning, I have found a really excellent cleaner which contains peroxide and does not have any smell at all. love it. My new favorite!

We got rid of all chemical cleaners not just because of our cat but for the health of us humans as well. If anyone's ever suffered chemical flu like I have, you know the misery that inhaling chemicals can cause.

We steam clean our tile floors with water and use vinegar and baking soda. The hardwood gets occasionally cleaned and buffed with natural lemon and orange oil. For occasional sanitizing purposes, a little rubbing alcohol around the bathroom trim above the counters. Our cat never climbs counters and likes staying low, so she'll never get to it. Even if she did, the alcohol vaporizes and dissipates quickly. Shoes are not allowed inside our house, so floors stay clean for awhile.

Unfortunately, vinegar really bothers my asthma and allergies. I can use alcohol, but cleaning with it really does me in.

I found Krud Kutter at Walmart and use that. Unscented and  based on hydrogen peroxide. I love it..that and the Method glass cleaner--found at Home Depot.

I've read that certain essential oils, including lemon and orange oils, are dangerous to cats. I love using oils but often don't because of reading here and there that cats cannot process the oils, or something in many essential oils.

"The hardwood gets occasionally cleaned and buffed with natural lemon and orange oil."

I've read that these oils can be harmful to cats. I also love using essential oils, but some of them, like these, make me nervous. Just thought you would like to know. None of my research has been all that extensive, but this seems to be a common piece of info I come across in articles about cats and oils,

I use nature clean or method. as long as your surfaces are perfectly dry before your furbabies walk or lay on them they should be safe. oxygen bleach is my best friend, it is industrial strength super concentrated hydrogen peroxide. good for me and my  immune compromised asthmatic furbabies

I came here looking for an alternative after using swiffer and instantly regretting it. I'm usually so mindful, but was lured in by the convenience. The smell is bothering me, so I can imagine my poor furbaby (am now airing out my house). I wiped his paws with cat safe wipes afterwards, bc like one posters cat, mine is also too curious to stay away. I have mainly laminate flooring and a few areas of tile. I'm interested in steaming as a few of you have mentioned, but am not sure if it'll damage my flooring?

I also wanted to comment on the essential oils. When we use toxic chemicals we know they're harmful and use caution, but with oils there's the false mindset that bc they're natural they must be safe. Unfortunately most are extremely toxic to our pets, even when diffused in the air.
Below are some examples, not even all--that are toxic to cats.

The steamer is good on tile. I wouldn't trust it on the laminate flooring. You might try calling a place that sells/installs laminate flooring to ask.

I love, love, love my Shark Steam Mop (got it at Walmart). I pour in water and it heats right up. When I'm done, toss in the micro fiber pad into the wash and good to go. I have wood floors but have tile in my kitchen and bathrooms and it works great on those, too. Dries pretty instantly, too. My daughter will play with the cat (and dogs) in another room while I steam mop the main areas of the house and it's done and dried within 20 minutes flat. Give or take.

Where do you think?
I've always used Mr.Clean and Murphy's oil soap. This is what my mom used and it works so I use it too the gain scent Mr.Clean smells like fresh laundry.

My mom would let me crawl on the floors when I was a baby so I assume it's fine. I also dilute the cleaners with water.

So, from what I've been reading it's really up to the individual to decide which method would be best for cleaning, just as long you don't use anything like pinysol
