Good morning everyone.

Hope everyone had a good holiday season.

My question is:

Do you have any new years plans? How about resolutions, do you make any? Did you make any last year and if so did you keep them?

Personally, I don't make resolutions, I make a list of things I would like to accomplish before the year is out. I am hoping the year of 2012 is a good one. I am prepared for it getting worse before better, but..... it should get better.

I would like to have a direction, and I'm hoping it starts by moving into the womens shelter apartment. Getting out of this toxic environment is the first step to getting back on my feet.

I want to strengthen the relationship between my girls and I.

And yes I have a weight loss goal.

I want to get to my goal weight before my subscription runs out, as I cannot afford to continue it. So I have untill March. It is a very realistic goal.

Our church has a party every New Years Eve.  They do music, board games, and of course FOOD!  But we never go.  DH rarely will stay up till midnight.  He's more likely to fall asleep on the couch and then stumble to bed with his eyes barely open.  I've gotten used to it.  It's helpful the other 364 days of the year that he likes to be up in the morning.  DD will have her normal bedtime too.

I am planning this year to make up some little appetizer type things and maybe a dip or two to snack on.  If DH falls asleep too early I guess it'll all be for ME!

I never make resolutions.  I don't see the point really.  If most people give up on them within a month or two; you are just wasting your time.  I won't make one just to make one.  If I see something I want to change about me or do; I start then.

No big plans.

I don't do resolutions, but I make a list of things I want to get done to/around the house in the coming year.  This year I want ( I NEED ) a new floor in the kitchen.  I'd also love to get the front bank terraced somehow so it never has to be mowed again.

We'll be going next door to play games with my aunt & uncle.
Should be fun!

I don't usually make resolutions, but I need to get active again. I gained a lot of weight this year, and I don't want to end up being as heavy as I once was.

I never make Resolutions because I know I'll never keep them. No big plans ,probably watch the Ball drop and have a glass of Champagne, but honestly, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are NOT my favorite Holidays.

We never go out on New Years Eve.  Hate the traffic, crowds, etc.

Will probably get some snack items and rarely make it until midnight.

Resolution is always to eat healthy, lose weight,e tc -- but you know what happens with those resolutions!

Actually I have never liked New Years Eve -- don't know why, but somehow it always depresses me.

Phew! This thread has made me feel better! It feels like there is so much pressure to do something on NYE, but honestly, we'd rather just stay in and enjoy the evening, have some nice food, and see in the new year in comfort, not by being squished in a bar, or to spend lots of money, which we need to save. If one of my friends were to have a house party, we'd love to go, (our house is too small for more than one guest at a time!)!.
So, short answer, staying home with my SO and our fur family!

Here... or There... Hmmm
For New Years, my nephew and his girlfriend are coming over. Me & his GF are going to decorate cookies, we're all gonna snack on food, play video games and watch Jeopardy or a movie! Then turn the TV on (possibly have to rewind the DVR) and watch the ball drop! :) Fun times! No resolutions, just always trying to be a better person!

I have no plans for NWE. I may go round to friends but I am usually happier at home, where I don't have to worry about driving or anything. AS for 2012, I was talking to a friend about this a couple of days ago, and hte only thing I want to do is to make this a year where I finally have a proper holiday - I haven't been away anywhere (except for 2/3 nights visiting friends) for 6 years! Somehow I am determnined to arrange things so I can have a week off somewhere, not expensive, but just without responsibility. I know that is a bit selfish, but I need it.

Over the river and through the woods...
We postponed our Christmas Eve dinner until New Year's Eve so we'll be having DH's family and a few friends over. I would LOVE to stay in after that with our friends and maybe MIL and just have finger foods and watch a movie but I think DH wants to go out because his friend's band is playing. I used to love going out on NYE but the last few years the crowds and noise just bothered me. But if he wants to we'll go.

Honey, that is NOT selfish at all!! Everyone needs some "me" time to keep themselves sane. And after 6 years you definitely deserve a vacation to do whatever YOU want to do.

We normally do nothing, maybe have a friend or two over but even that has gotten spotty in the past couple of years. However, this year, DH got us tickets to a hockey game. We have not been to the arena yet, even though it's been there for several years so we are pretty excited. We are going down early, having dinner somewhere in the area and then going to the game, which should end around 10, meaning we'll be home before too many revelers get out.

As to resolutions....I'm going to put a bigger focus on doing a daily 15-30 minute clean-up/pick-up around the house. It makes a huge difference by the end of the week and I need to just get over my laziness and do it.

As for resolutions, not really. Need to lose the holiday weight! I guess that's a resolution.

We don't do much for New Years Eve anymore. Sometimes we'll visit with friends to play cards or games. Everybody brings a little something to munch on. The last couple of years, though, Rick has been wanting to stay home and that's fine with me. We'll rent a few movies, either from a local video store or, more often, through On Demand. I always make a appetizer-type dinner for us to eat while we're watching the movies. And we'll do some shrimp. Weather permitting, I'll be able to make my Louisville Wings outside on the grill. That's pretty much it.

Pork and sauerkraut for New Year's Day. Always. We've been doing that for decades. Rick's not particularly fond of sauerkraut, but he eats it on New Years for good luck. I love the stuff. I throw it in the crock pot and we'll have it after we take the Christmas decorations down, which is another decades-old tradition around here. We must take the decorations down on New Years Day. I don't know why.

And yet another tradition my grandmother taught me. Right before midnight on NYE, put a purse or wallet outside on the front porch. Make sure there's at least $1.00 in the purse.....more is OK, but you need at least $1.00.  Immediately after midnight, the very first thing you do is bring that purse into the house. That way, the very first thing you do in the New Year is bring money into the house; it means that money will always be coming in throughout the year. I've done this for as long as I can remember, even as a little girl at home. My Grandma taught me well.
