i have to move as i cannot stay at the house i am at now. i live in florida and moving to tennessee. i have a cat who used to be a stray but i tamed him and now he loves to get petted and lay down with me and on cold nights he will sleep with me on my bed. but he does not like staying inside to much so he is still inside/outside cat and doesnt really like other people just me. my step dad said no cats in the house but i convinced him to let me bring him in at nights. but i am worried that if i bring him up here he will run away. is there anything i can do to make him not runaway. once i let him out of the cat carrier i am bringing him up in. i am planning on getting a box and putting a sheet and a towel or 2 down as well as putting a towel over the hole in the box so its kinda isolating from the wind and rain. any other ideas? also the ride is 9 hours up here what i can do to make him more comfortable on the way up here.

I am sorry you are having to go through the stress of a move with your cats. But it can be done safely, with a minimum of upset, if you plan it carefully. Here is an article that can help with the practical side of getting there.

Once you get there, it can be more problematic, depending on your cat and on the new place. But there are a number of previous discussions on this topic, and they may help you. good luck.
