Hi! My name is Shannon and I am mommy to three spoiled rotten cats named Tuffy, Simon and Joey; a goofy Great Dane named Peanut; and a Yellow-footed tortoise named Juice. A fourth kitty will be joining my family sometime in the next few months when things settle down around my house.
I decided to join this forum after I joined a dane forum and learned more than I ever imagined I could about the breed. I've owned cats for 15 years so I thought I was pretty cat savvy but recently realized I don't know as much as I thought. So I'm here to learn!
I look forward to getting to know everyone and finding answers to all my kitty questions.
I'll add some photos of my gang soon so be on the lookout.

Hi and welcome to the TCS site and our Forums!

Tell me.

I had just wrote ot another newbie, it is easier with spoiled rotten cats than dogs. For dogs is should be clear who is the master and who is the dog.  After this is clear, you can of course be the very best friends together!

But you do have both cats and a big Dane.  How do you manage the balance?

Good luck!

It was difficult at first, but once the dane was finally house broke things just worked out. The cats all play with the puppy and they have taught to stay wishin limits. I think what makes it the easiest is they have opposite sleep patterns. The cats wake up around 0400 and run around like madmen for a few hours. The dane sleeps in her crate so the cats no they have several hours with her around. And the cats usually sleep around the times the dane is playing. I never had to intervene at all with my animals. They worked it out and all show respect towards one another. It helps that the dane knows the cats are boss and she is perfectly happy with that. There are times when I catch them cuddling now.

Thank you everyone for the kind welcome and offers of assistance.
