OH NO! Lauren I'm so sorry Perla is so sick, I will keep her in my prayers !  I can imagine how hard it was for you to see her that sick when you were about to leave.   I hope she gets better soon.  I'm scared of Clavamox now, My cat Fuzzy was on Clavamox for a week when he had a very bad eye infection, it was an ulcer-like lesion.   He is doing great though, but since I've read this, I won't give that antibiotic to my kitties, never again, I didn't know it was that dangerous.

Lots of love, prayers and vibes for Lauren and Perla

Well, Bugsy has had a 1 YEAR and 2 Month long diarrhea long due to clavamox....... Months of explosive diarrhea....... Now It is not explosive anymore, but no matter what we do, nothing have fixed him back to what he was pre-Clavamox. That drug will not enter my house again. Surely Bugsy is not the usual cat.... He is extra sensitive.... But Clavamox can do some serious damage....
I hear she got a shot of Reglan? that does help a LOT. It did for Bugsy, on his crisis, and I know of another cats who was having a bad clavamox crisis, and that's what it was given successfully. This shot should make your girl diarrhea and vomit stop...... It works and fast. :cross: In extreme cases they can put her in a Reglan drip too.... But hopefully all she will need is that one shot and pills :cross:
Tons, tons of vibes to little Perla......... and tons, and tons of calming vibes for mom :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
Thank you, yes she was getting an IV drip with Reglan in it. Of course, I have heard nothing today, being Christmas. But you can be assured I will be on the phone first thing in the morning to talk with the vet. I have been sick with worry - I can't help it. I even got, litterally, sick after our Christmas dinner. I have anxiety anyway and this has put me over the edge with it. PLUS the same night Perla was sick, my dog Wilbur had the worst case of diarrhea in his thirteen years of life. Every hour for sixteen hours straight. I was up all night long cleaning up diarrhea from Wilbur and puke from Perla :nothappy: the eve of our departure to Door County. When we dropped Perla at the vet's on Christmas Eve morning - I picked up Hill's I/D for Wilbur. Laurie suggested Pedialyte too, so we stopped to get some on the way up North. Also, Wilbur's vet suggested Immodium. So in the parking lot of the store we stopped at, I syringed Pedialyte into my baby and dosed him with Immodium. After three 1/2 tablets and ten hours later - the diarrhea ceased. He is much better today - I had to syringe feed him though the last two days. He finally ate a dinner tonight on his own. AND had a semi-normal poop.

:frusty::frusty: :bawling2: :bawling2: GEEZ - it has just been a pet medical nightmare lately for me.....

Will post after I get some information from the vet tomorrow morning.... Thank's SOOOOOOOOOOOO much everyone... YOUR vibes/prayers are working. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Oh my goodness, what a crazy mess! I can only imagine how difficult this is for you, being so far away from Perla while she's so sick. Thank goodness Wilbur's feeling better!

I am praying for everyone's health AND sanity! Hand in there, Lauren!!!!!

So glad to hear Wilbur is doing better, with your tender loving care. I know you will be glad to get back home, and talk to the vet about Perla.

Love and hugs to you all

Thank YOU Thank YOU.... so much. I called and talked to vet assistant. Vet will call me as soon as the bloodtest results come in. Perla still have a fever :sniffle:... My daughter, Heather, will go and visit her today in the hospital and call me as soon as she sees her. I guess her vomiting is better and she is also on Metronidazole, again. :(..... They have been monitoring her closely. Keep those vibes coming for her.... she needs them.

Also - I thought Wilbur was better and he JUST threw up all over the carpeting. BUT I found out the kids gave him pancakes and scrambled eggs earlier. So, hopefully, that is what caused his vomiting. I AM REALLY trying to keep it together up here. Family drama on TOP of my sick pet's. Larry and I are going to go for another walk to clear out our heads....... SIGH......

Will post later when I hear from the vet. Pray for negative FeLK/FIV/FIP........ Thanks and :hugs:

Is it at all possible Wilbur and Perla got in to something they shouldn't have?  It just seems a little odd to me that they are both presenting with similar issues at about the same time.

Prim glad Wilbur is feeling better and hopefully Perla is on the mend as well.

Oh hun, I am so sorry she still has a fever :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
My vet doesn't give any oral antibiotics for Bugsy anymore, due to his poor digestive system..... Given her condition, I would be discussing injections/drip of Baytril instead..... It is an excellent broad spectrum antibiotics, also for the digestive system - woks for E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Haemophilus spp. and Staphylococci. Baytril is also effective against Mycoplasma. Due to its broad spectrum of activity, Baytril can be used in single or mixed bacterial infections of respiratory and digestive organs, of the urinary tract, of the skin and of wounds. Just something to discuss with your vet..... next time you are on the phone with them :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
Is she on probiotics? Maybe she should be on one too? Something to think about it also...... More vibes! :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

My understanding is that both ate Fancy Feast.....

Lauren will be able to relax a LITTLE bit and hopefully enjoy a bit of her birthday. :heart3:

She spoke to her vet. They stopped the Regalan drip, because Perla is no longer vomiting. She also no longer has diarrhea.   She has BEEN on a metro/baytril drip, and, as it turns out, the poor baby would have had to stay at the hospital over the holiday even if Lauren was home. :(

She's not been eating much - just picking a little here and there, so they have been syringe feeding her a/d - and she's been keeping it down! :bigthumb:

They did not test for e. coli or salmonella, but treated her for it. The bloodwork otherwise came back normal, and no FeLV/FIV and even corona virus titres are low.

Lauren wanted me to thank EVERYONE for ALL the help, the good vibes, and for CARING enough to help, to ask, to look for answers, and to send :hugs: :hugs: to all!!!!

...As to Wilbur, apparently Lauren did feed both of Perla and Wilbur some raw food made by Bravo. The vet said it might have been a bad roll. :dk:

Continued vibes for Perla and Wilbur! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Yeah, Salmonella and e.coli don't show up in regular blood tests....... I am so so glad your vet was already treating her for it :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Thank you everyone SO much and Laurie for updating for me last night. :heart3: :hugs::hugs: We are currently driving home. five hour drive. Should be home by 2:00. Will then go to the vet to hopefully bring Perla home. I am trying to figure out WHY both Wilbur and Perla got so sick with diarrhea/vomiting about the same time and the other's didn't. Two thing's they ate in common..... Fancy Feast, and Bravo raw pork meat. :dk: Wendall and Presley also ate some Bravo - they just love it. ALSO - the Wilderness weight management chicken dry. They are no longer getting that food. Currently while we were up here in Door County, I had to fill all the dry feeder's with Hill's I/D dry so Perla would have something to eat while we were gone, but then we had to rush her off to the vet the morning we were leaving. So I just left the I/D in the feeder's. I am going to seriously reconsider everyone's diet this week. First - have to get Perla home and recovered. I can't wait to see her today..... just can't wait.
