HI :D!!!!!!!!!!!! I DO have some good news and I hope I am not jumping ahead of myself in saying so...... :cross: KNOCK WOOD :lol3: BUT - her eye IS better. I finished up the steroidal ointment on Monday - yesterday. Today her eye almost looks totally normal - just a teeny bit of tearing after she eats or plays. The inner eyelids are not as red and swollen - just a teeny bit. The outer eyelid is completely normal and healed up :clap::clap::clap: SO the :princess: is on her way to a beautiful healthy eye again.... she SO deserves to be fully recovered after all of this time!!! She has been the BEST little angel for any eye medications I have had to give her. Just a total doll :heart3: THANKS again, friends :hugs:, for your loving concern and support with the :princess:!! Perla thanks you too :paw: :whitecat:

WELL- when it rains it pours at my house..... Perla's eye is beginning to flare :shame: It is chronically weepy, but with a flare-up it is more then just watery. I will take her to the vet again. I want her tear ducts checked this time. I am taking her to Dr. Mark for a second opinion. I also just ordered some Colloidal Silver 500 ppm. recommended by Carolina. She gave me instructions on how to dilute it and use it for her eye. I really need to get this under control. My poor little :princess: Perla. :vibes::vibes:

I know she has herpes, but could this be related allergies at all?  Tis the season, you know
that you can nip this in the bud quickly

I do not think it allergies.... she has had this weepy eye since last November. The distemper vaccine in early December put her into a full blown Herpes virus. Her eye became very inflammed. After weeks of ointments - finally a steroidal ointment - it cleared - but still weepy ever so slightly. Another flare up is beginning. She is still getting almost 750 mg. of Lysine daily. Will increase that to 1000 mg. again. Thanks, Sally... :hugs:

Oh, poor little Perla!  I was so surprised to get a notification for this thread; I'd hoped the little lady's eye issues were a thing of the past.

Sending loads of
that you can get this under control soon, Lauren.  A gentle head skritch to the Princess ( if she'll allow it, of course

HI LIBBY!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :hugs: Thank YOU.... unfortunately, Perla's eye has still be "mildly" weepy, not bad at all. Now for whatever reason, another flare up. Her appointment is tomorrow afternoon with the vet. I JUST gave her a scritch from you :lol3: She happens to be resting right next to me this morning on the couch while I am on the computer!!! The :princess: thanks you for the scritch. Although, she did give me a bit of a look....she has her limits in the "touching" and "scritching" department  :lol2:

Well, I consider it an honor that Precious Perla accepted a skritch from me!

(sorry about the messed up "quote" box; I'm computer illiterate)

I hope everything goes well at the vet's today and you can somehow get the little one's issues under control.  Sending loads of
to Perlas.

OK, now, for Perla's update. It is definitely a Herpetic Eye issue. Herpes virus in the eye. This could potentially be a chronic issue for life especially in times of stress. AND we all know that the :princess: Perla has to have things JUST SO :worship:.... I am to apply the Neo Poly Dex drops in her eye three to four times a day. That will be a challenge with her. I can barely ever even pet her. Definitely likes to keep her distance but stay close, you know??!! I will manage though. Once she figures out the routine again, I think she will allow it :cross:

Dr. Mark thinks the CS is an excellent idea :clap::clap::clap::clap: But he only wants me to blot on the outside of the eye right now. She has some odd pustules on her outer eyelids as well :sigh: So the CS will be a great benefit to that part of the condition. AFTER the ten days of the steroidal drops, then I can start the diluted CS drops in the eye.

ALSO - if anyone knows anything about Zithromax for Herpetic eyes in cat's - please let me know. I could try that if the drops do not clear the eye or the CS does not clear the eye. So in a few week's. Doc says that he learned at a conference that Azithromycin (Zithromax). We will not go there unless nothing else works. It is a powerful antibiotic with some pretty scary side effects. :sigh: Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks...... :hugs:

Poor Perla!  I've had to use ointments on kitties' eyes before, but can't imagine trying to get any of them to hold still for drops.  I hope the Lady Perla co-operates for you, Lauren.  Sending you and the little one loads of
that the drops do the trick.
